Mark’s Point of View
Ruby never answered my last text, so I figured she was done with me. Good. All that stupid bitch brought into my life was drama. And believe me, the last thing I need in my life was drama.
But…
But there was still that one part in my heart that told me I liked Ruby. I mean… Urg I just don’t know anymore! Like, she just makes me so confused and… You know what? Maybe I just need a break.
I decided to call up Emma and tell her that maybe we need to just take a break for a little bit. She picked up on the third ring.
“Hey Baby!” She said, which only made me feel even guiltier.
“Look, Emma…” I start.
“Don’t.” She says, interrupting me.
“Don’t what?” I ask, confused. “What don’t you want me to do?
“Don’t you dare break up with me over the phone. That’s an asshole move.” She says with a slight stern in her voice, but she giggles anyway.
“No! I was just going to suggest we, you know, take a break…” I trail off. Nothing. The line of the other end is absolutely quiet.
“Do you mind if I ask why?” She asks, and I sigh. I guess she does deserve the truth.
“Well, it’s not that I don’t love you, because I do. Its just… Ruby and I aren’t on the best terms, and I just feel awkward around her. That’s all. It has nothing to do with you.” I state truthfully, and again, I hear nothing on the other end.
“Oh….” Is all I get out of her.
“I’m sorry…” I start, but she cuts me off.
“No! Don’t be sorry! This is good for our relationship. We need to be honest about these things.” She says, which actually surprises me.
“Really? You aren’t mad?” I ask, and she laughs.
“Of course not! Now, go to bed Mark. It’s getting late.” She says, and when I look at my clock and see its ten at night, I realize I am a little tired.
“Alright. Thank you for understanding. I’ll call you in a week or two.” I say.
“Just take your time.” She says. “No need to rush.”
“You’re the best Emma. Talk to you soon.”
“Night.”
And then the line went dead.
So, I went into my room and slid off my shirt and pants, and hopped into bed, hoping to get some good night’s rest to tackle tomorrow.
When I woke up the next morning, I didn’t feel as good as I thought I would have. I had this pain in my gut, telling me that something was wrong. All morning, I just couldn’t figure it out. I check YouTube, Tumblr, Instagram, everything. But still nothing.
“Come on Mark, now you’re just being paranoid.” I told myself. But still, that same feeling kept with me all day. And I finally knew what it was when Emma texted me later that day.
Emma’s Point of View
After Mark told me he wanted to take a break because of Ruby, I knew what I had to do… I had to kick her out. So, I did the only logical thing I could think of.
***Flashback of Last Night***
“Ruby, can we talk?” I ask as I knock her door.
“Uhhh yeah sure, come on in.” She says, and I can hear shuffling going on in her room. Probably putting her laptop away or something. I open the door, and step into her room so I can shut the door behind me. “What’s up, buttercup?”
“Ruby, you’re going to hate me for this… But I’m going to have to kick you out.” I say, and Ruby burst out laughing.
“You’re funny, you know that?” She laughs, but I just give her a stern look. It gives her a minute to calm down, but then she gives me a scared look. “Oh shit… You aren’t kidding.”
“Do I look like I’m kidding?” I ask her, and she shakes her head no.
“Why…?” She whispers, looking down at bed.
“Because you are tearing apart my relationship with Mark. And if I want us to go anywhere, I need you out of my life. Because all you seem to do is fuck it up!” I yell, getting slightly angry. A tear runs down her face, and I try my best not to go over and apologize. “I’ll need you out of here by next week.”
I can’t even look at her as I close the door. But I didn’t need too to know she was upset. Because I heard her cries through her door.
***End of Flashback***
And then I woke up this morning to the sound of Ruby packing up all of her stuff. Her eyes were red and swollen, she’d obviously been cry, but I didn’t say a work. I just sat there at the counter, drinking my cup of coffee, and watcher her pack.
She moved boxes and such towards the front door, and I began to wonder where she would go. My question was answered not long after that when I heard her on the phone.
“Mom… Hey, yeah, its me. Uh, actually, I need to ask you a favor.. Can I stay at your place? I mean, if not I can ask Emerald of Jasper or someone….”
And then there was this long pause after that, but then Ruby started to talk again.
“Alright. Thanks so much. Sorry Mom. I’ll call someone. Love you. Bye.”
And then she hung up the phone. She let out a frustrated sigh as she tossed her phone onto the couch and buried her head in her hands.
After a few minutes, she picked up her phone again, and called someone else. Her older brother, Jasper, to be exact.
“Jasper? Hey. Sorry to bother you, but… Well, do you know if anyone does? Don’t fucking yell at me, ok? I’m kind of having a rough time right now! Well I’m sorry being related to me is such a fucking bother!” And then she angrily hung up her phone again. Damn… Now I’m really starting to feel bad.
After packing some more, her phone rings, and she goes to pick it up again, sighing in relief as she picked it up. I missed a little bit of the conversation since I went to make some more coffee, but I did catch most of it.
“Pearl? Thank God you called. You do? Seriously?! Oh thank god, Pearl. You’re a lifesaver. Seriously. When? That works. I’ll see you then. Love you. Thanks again. Bye.” She smiles and she hangs ups the phone, and I assume she finally found a place to stay.
I didn’t really think much of it, though. I mean, I am the one who kicked her out. She’s not my problem anymore.
