Mark’s Point of View

After Ruby’s car pulled away, I got up and grabbed Emma’s hand.

“We’re leaving.” I demanded, practically pulling her out of the restaurant. Emma really didn’t seem to protest like I thought she would, which surprised me.

“Mark, I honestly didn’t think she was going to be that upset at you. I thought she would have been mad at me.” Emma says when we get into the car.

“I told you this was going to happen!” I slightly snapped, but I took a few deep breathes to try and calm myself down. “Look, she probably just went home to, like, take a nap or something. I’m sure we all just need time away from each other.” I said, and Emma just nodded her head in the smallest notion.

“Yeah. You’re probably right.” Emma said. That was the last thing said in that car ride. I dropped Emma off, and I went back home.

I had already told the fans about Emma, so I was getting some questions from them. So I decided to just answer a few on Twitter, and a few on Tumblr, since we were supposed to all be taking time away from each other to be with ourselves and think about what’s been happening.

I just laid in my bed and stared at the ceiling from what seemed like hours. I thought about my feelings for Emma, and even my feelings for Ruby. But the one thing I kept thinking about was how big of a jerk I was to her.

I laid in the same position for so long, I actually feel asleep. It was quite peaceful, except for being abruptly woken up by a banging on my door.

I shot up out of my bed, running to the door. I fell over once I got out of my room, since I had woken up to fast, but quickly got back up and yanked to door open.

“Emma? Pearl? What’s going on? Its midnight.” I say, and both of the girls just start yelling and talking at once. “Guys! Calm down. Come on in. Now, tell me what the hell is going on.” I state after we had settled on the couch.

“Pearl, explain it to Mark.” Emma said, and both of us had our attention on her.

“Well…” She starts, her breathe is shaky, and her eyes look like they’re threatening to spill tears. “I had to close up the café tonight, so when I got home, I saw that Ruby wasn’t around. So, you know, I didn’t really panic very much, but when I started calling some of her friends, and they said they haven’t heard from her, I started to get worried. So when I looked back in her room, her suitcase was gone, her clothes were gone, and so was her laptop and phone.” Pearl broke down at the end, and Emma rubbed her back, trying to comfort her.

“Well, can’t we just track her phone?” I ask, and Pearl looks up at me with angered eyes.

“No. Because my sister is a grown ass woman who doesn’t need to be constantly watched.” Pearl snaps, and I just throw my hands up in the air, telling her to take it easy. “This is your fault, you know. You did this.”

I opened my mouth like I was going to say something, but just shut it again, because I knew she was true. This was my fault.

“Well… What are you going to do?” I ask, and Pearl just sighs.

“I don’t think we can really do anything until it’s been three days. That’s when she’s declared a missing person. So I guess we’ll just have to search for her until then.” Pearl says, and Emma and I just nod.

“Do you have any idea where she could have gone?” I ask, and both of the girls think for a minute.

“I mean, I’m sure we could think of a few places to look, but we can’t be sure.” Emma says.
