Mark’s Point of View
I was in the middle of telling Ruby a story from my childhood, when I hear her soft, adorable snore. I can’t help but smile, and kiss her forehead.
“Sweet dreams, Ruby.” I smile, and I lay my head on top of Ruby’s. Listening to her soft snoring, I begin to fall asleep as well.
I close my eyes, and let sleep consume me, the sweet smell of Ruby’s hair filling my nose as I drift off into dream land.
When I wake up, Ruby is staring at me. I give her a confused look, and she just continues smiling at me.
“What are you staring at?” I ask, and she laughs softly.
“Your face, and how adorable you look when you sleep. How your hair gets all messy. Oh, and your snore is cute too.” She says, her voice sounding a lot stronger that it did before.
“I do not snore!” I defend, smiling at her.
“Oh, yes you do.” She laughs, and I can’t help but laugh too.
“Well, so do you.” I state, and she gives me a fake hurt expression.
“I do not!” She defends, just like I had. Her voice began to waver slightly, from strong to weak.
“Oh, yes you do. And it’s adorable.” I state, and she blushes, snuggling deeper into my chest. She grabs onto my shirt, and I move her closer to me, squeezing her tighter with my arm.
After a few minutes of just sitting there comfortably, Ruby sits up, my arm still draped over her shoulders.
“Mark?” She asks, looking over at me.
“Hm?” I ask, making eye contact.
“Can you make me some soup?” She asks sweetly, and I can’t help but smile.
“I’d love too.” I smile, getting up.
“It’s the kind in the box. Just boil three cups of water, and then put the mix in.” She instructs.
“Gotcha.” I state, heading over to the kitchen to begin making the soup.
“And don’t fuck it up. I am very particular with my soups.” She states, and I laugh to myself.
“Got it.” I state, putting the water to boil.
I hear Ruby move on the couch, and after a few minutes of silence, I decide to ask her something that’s been bothering me.
“Hey Ruby...?” I start, and get silence as an answer.
“Ruby?” I question again, walking over to the living room. I see her laying down on the couch, sleeping soundly.
I sigh.
“Why does this have to be so complicated?” I ask myself, but I knew why. I was making it complicated. It was my fault. I shouldn’t have any relationship with Ruby except for being a friend.
And at that, I decided that I would no longer have any feelings for Ruby. Emma was my girlfriend, and Ruby was just a friend. Nothing more.
Even after this conclusion, the curiosity of Ruby’s tattoo was still burning in the back of my mind. I look over at the sleeping girl, and decide to just end it all here.
Because of the position Ruby was sleeping in, I had to move her slightly to get a good look at her wrist. I take a deep breathe, and a gentile grip of her wrist before turning it over to get a look.
And there it was. Something that was so familiar to me, it almost didn’t seem real. It was my ‘Markiplier’s Hero’s’ red pixelated heart, with those exact words written in it.
I drop her wrist and quickly walk over to the kitchen and shut off the boiling water. I then walk back over and shake Ruby awake.
“W-What? Mark? What’s wrong? You look mad.” She says, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
“Oh, I’m not mad. I’m not mad at all. I’m fucking furious!” I shout at her, and she flinches, sitting up.
“Why? What happened?” She asks, obviously oblivious to this situation.
“To this!” I scream, grabbing her wrist.
Her face becomes completely pale, and she yanks her wrist away from me.
“How… How did you see?” She asks, tears welling up in her eyes.
“Well, Ruby, I was curious about it, and since I knew you weren’t going to tell me, I took matters into my own hands.” I say, and a tear runs down her face.
“Mark… Why? Why are you so mad? Why did you have to know?” She asks, and I stand up, not even able to look at her face anymore.
“Because, now I know I can’t trust you. You’re probably just another one of those fangirls anyway… Fucking typical.”
“Typical? Typical?! Oh, I was trying to be nice, to prove that I’m not another fangirl, but no. You just have trust issues and I don’t need to deal with it.” Ruby states, and I look up at her. She has tears running down her face, but she looked pretty angry.
“No, Ruby…” I start, realizing what I had done.
“No. Mark, get out. I don’t care if you date Emma, but I don’t want anything to do with you. I never want to see your face in my café. Don’t talk to me when I’m here. Don’t call me, don’t text me, don’t even make eye contact with me. Now get the hell out of my house.” She says sternly. During the middle, her voice started to get hoarse again, but I could still hear the sternness in her voice. She looked so hurt…
“Didn’t you fucking hear me? Get the fuck out of my house.” She says, and I quickly grab my jacket and begin to head out the door.
“Wait, Mark…” She starts as I put my hand on the door handle. Oh thank God, a second chance.
“You forgot your fucking shirt, you asshole.” She says before taking off the shirt she was wearing, and throws it at me. I look at it, then at her, before heading out the door.
