Rings are used to decipher a person's mood whether they're happy or not, whether they're aggressively agitated or just in a depressive mood. Dan and Phil's rings alerts each other of how they both feel. Phil doesn't often wear his mood ring as he thinks it's a ridicule idea(mcr) but Dan thinks the complete opposite.
