Depression is not just a feeling or emotion. Depression comes with cognitive, behavioural and emotional issues. Did you know to be diagnosed with depression you need to meet the category of the ICD? The symptoms included in the ICD aren't just moods and emotions. They're everything a depressed must carry with them till the day of either their improvement or death.
Dan Howell was depressed to say the least. His problems were seen as a burden by himself however even when Phil tried to help, Phil had never had first hand experience of depression. He wouldn't know the pain and the fatigue. Dan pretending to be okay was going to be the silent killer.
