Not so little anymore

Start of the weekend

I'm updating today because I feel bad about not updating for a while.

"Why didn't you tell me you invited Josh for the weekend!?" Katy gasped as she was now in privet with her husband.

"I didn't think you would mind! Besides I could ask you the same thing about Maya!" Shawn said as he glanced over the the two kids starring at each other awkwardly.

"I was surprising you because of how down you've been since she's left." Katy argued as Shawn ran a hand through his hair.

"Well what are we going to do? Maya hates Josh and Josh isn't going to be able to focus with Maya." Shawn said and Katy sighed.

"We're going to be mature adults and take care of the situation step by step." Katy said as she calmed herself down. Shawn shrugged his shoulders.

"And how do you suppose we do that?" He asked her and Katy smiled.

"Watch and learn." She said as she tuned around and headed back into the living room. Upon seeing their return Josh stood up from the couch with his bag.

"This was a bad idea maybe I should go." He said as he started to head for the door.

"No Josh. Please stay." Katy said as she motioned to the couch. Josh hesitantly sat back down on the couch.

"I'm out of here." Maya spoke as she turned around and headed for the door.

"Maya sit!" Shawn called back to her making her throw her head back with a groan before sitting down with her stuff on the chair.

"Look. We both made a mistake by not consulting with each other about this weekend first. But what's done is done and now we can all enjoy the weekend together." Katy said smiling while leaning on Shawn's arm. Josh smiled but Maya kept her stone cold face.

"Why don't we just keep them separated for the weekend." Shawn said whispering to Katy.

"No Shawn that would be called ignoring the problem. Their young adults now they need to start confronting their problems instead of running away from them." Katy said as she looked back over to Josh and Maya.

"Thank you for inviting me to stay but I don't want to intrude on your family plans, Mrs. Hunter." Josh said as he glanced at Maya before standing up again.

"You're not intruding Josh. I will admit it was a surprise to have you here but I'm glad that you are." She said. Josh smiled before awkwardly sitting down again.

"Look why don't we just continue on doing the things that we originally planned. You take Maya and do your girl things and I'll take Josh and we'll work on the nursery as well as do other things that we had planned." Shawn said making Maya nod her head at her mother.

"You guys can do that. But I also want to spend time together as well." Katy said making Maya bite back her tongue. "Oh we can play that couples game that we play with Cory and Topanga!" Katy said excitedly making Josh's eyes widen and Maya scoff.

"We're not a couple, mom!" She said making Katy give her a look.

"I mean the non romantic version." She confirmed making Shawn chuckle.

"I think Josh and Maya would rather not see each other this weekend. Okay?" Shawn asked making Katy shake her head.

"No not okay." She said before turning to Josh and Maya. "Look before this whole breaking off someday happened, you two use to be great friends. You could tell each other anything and not even mention the fact that y'all had agreed on someday. Now maybe someday is over maybe it's not, but you two need to fix whatever tension you have between you two. A friendship like yours doesn't come very often, take advantage of that." Katy told them. Josh and Maya didn't say anything. "You're adults now. It's time you started acting like it." She scolded making them both sigh. Shawn smiled.

"Maybe you two should take this weekend and start over. Clear the air, even if it doesn't end the way you want it too." Shawn was talking to both of them but he was looking at Josh when he said that last part. Maya sighed before getting up.

"Where are we staying. If I remember correctly the only available room is the nursery." Maya stated making Katy sigh.

"One of you can bunk in the nursery while the other one sleeps on the couch. That's all we can do on such short notice of the both of you coming this weekend." Shawn said. Maya looked at Josh and raised her eyebrow as if she was asking him which one he wanted.

"I'll take the couch." Josh said making Maya nod her head before grabbing her stuff and making her way into the nursery.

"She'll come around, Josh. It just takes time. Remember what I told you." Shawn said as he gave Josh a sympathetic look. Josh smiled sadly before nodding his head.

"I hope you're right. I really screwed up." He said shaking his head. Katy smiled.

"But it's how far you're willing to go to make it right that truly counts." She told him before patting him on the back and excusing herself to the nursery. Shawn say down beside Josh.

"If I know my two girls, which I do, she'll come around." Shawn confirmed for him making Josh smile.

"I just wish I knew when. It would make my job a lot easier." He said. Shawn nodded his head.

"Unfortunately we don't get that option. Just remember that when you do finally get her, don't let her go again." Josh nodded his head before Shawn to patted his back and got off the couch.

Josh knew one thing, this was going to be one heck of a weekend.
