Business Gossip

Avi Gupta

Kush and I are perched on the marble counter in kitchen enjoying the wine. Pari ate her dinner and he tucked her to sleep few minutes ago. She dozed off soon given how much we played with water guns. He hinted there is a half bottle of wine yet to be finished so I said yes.

"Bunny," I started turning towards him "Can you tell me about Pari's mom?" I asked him and he looked ready to bolt.

"She said her mom is not alive. I just want to know what happened," I said cautiously.

Looking at me in surprise he asked, "She told you that? She never talks about her mother not even with Avikam."

I shrugged lightly, "Sometimes it's easy to talk with others," I stated.

He clinked our wine glasses together in agreement to my statement. "Pari's mom died of cancer two years back," he answered me. Listening to that I got more questions about Avikam and Pari but I don't want to cause inconvenience to Kush.

He looked thoughtful for few seconds, "You know after her mother there is no female influence on her life. It's always been just male workers in this mansion. Avikam didn't want to risk hiring new female maid or nanny and he took it on his own hands.

He learned to bath a toddler by watching videos. He got the hang of all of it diaper changing, washing her long hair everything but he never understood the braiding part. Even Ronit and I tried, it is just so complicating and stressing," he said frowning making me smile.

Three grown men trying to braid a little's girl hair is a scenario I would love to witness. I admire them, and Avikam? I don't know if my heart can handle watching him and Pari together.

"Why does she call him Aviboo instead of dad?" I queried and he stared back with wide eyes.

"Because she is used to it," he said unsure of his answer. I understood there is more but didn't question him further. My phone started ringing and it was Jay. He went back home just an hour back and I am surprised to see his call.

"Hey," I said greeting.

"Don't 'hey' us kiddo," I heard dad's voice.

"Pa, please tell me you are here and it's not just a conference call," I said hopefully but I know he is still in Dehradun.

"Sadly no Ishi, I am calling because of the news," he said making me confused.

"What news?" I asked scrunching up my eyebrows.

"Your mom saw it on Business Gossip website. There are your photos with Kushal and some kid," he explained and I looked at Kush in alert. He raised an eyebrow at me silently asking.

"Business Gossip," I said simply and he cursed lowly taking out his phone.

"Pa, it's a bit complicated. I can't tell you about the little girl now, you will soon know about her," I said leaning a bit to see Kush's phone. There are indeed our photos from play centre earlier this evening and few from yesterday. The parents there being nosy must have taken those.

"I told them same thing," Jay said over the phone while I was busy reading the tag lines under the photos.

'Bipolar billionaire's secret child?' is written under Kush and Pari hugging pics. Bipolar? They have the audacity to call my bunny bipolar! Fucking idiots!

'Billionaire's affair with assistant' is written under a picture with three of us. I am not his assistant!

'Personal assistant's sexy services' is written under a picture of me and Kushal. They took that when we both were fallen down in the ball pool holding each other. The angle it was taken shows whole other meaning. Seriously! What is wrong with people?
