Protect but never serve

Chapter 10 - Saturday at work

"That was so good" I say leaning back in my seat
"I'm glad you approve" he smiles. "What are your plans for today?" He asks and I shrug.
"Most Saturdays I sleep in then head into the office to finish work." I tell him
"Didn't I hear you say it's your day off?" He asks
"I wish. I do give myself Sundays off though. Along with the whole building" I tell him
"Nice boss" he says
"I'm the best" I say making sure to sound extra chirpy.
"Shall I take you home to change?" He asks
"Can I just borrow a pair of sweats?" I ask him and he raises his eye brow "me and my mother argued on the phone and I don't want to go home." I say
"Ok" he says and he goes to get me some sweat pants. I was already wearing Elijah's long sleeve black shirt. Elijah then comes back with a pair of black sweats. I pull them on and he goes back to his room to change.
"What about shoes?" He asks looking down at my feet.
"How much do you love these socks?" I ask him
"They're old and just a pair of socks" he shrugs
"Then I don't need shoes" I say grabbing my bag and heading for the door. I hear Elijah laugh behind me. He locks up and drives me to work

~Elijah's point of view~
When I saw jade in my shirt I couldn't help but stare. She was just perfect, she was like a fallen angel. I take her into work and she goes to her office and sits at her desk. I sit outside and take out a book I had started to read.
"Morning Mr Edwards" Sarah says sitting down at her desk opposite me
"Morning Sarah" I say. About half an hour later a short, bald man comes over to Sarah's desk
"I have an appointment with Jade" he says and I raise my eyebrow listening carefully.
"I'm sorry but jade doesn't have any appointments booked in" Sarah says and I tense up.
"Just tell her I'm here. My names Tommy" he says. I could help but think of him as being the T that jade talks about. Sarah goes into jades office and a couple minutes later they both come out.
"Tommy you're here" jade says and out of the corner of my eye I saw jade looking at me.
"I told you I was coming" he says
"I didn't think you were serious" jade says and I was confused
"Now you know I was" he says
"Right well please come in" jade says and they go into her office.
"Who's he?" I ask Sarah
"I don't know I've never seen him before. Jade prefers to keep her private life separate from her work life" Sarah informs me. Hours went by, I had finished my book and was getting bored. I forgot my sudoku puzzle and my phone also got boring. Maybe it was because jade was in her office alone with that man. Jade had come out and told Sarah to not disturb her so know one has gone in or out of the room since her and Tommy went in. I heard shouting coming from the room but I didn't dare go in.

~Jade's point of view~
"Tommy you can't be serious" I say raising my voice slightly
"Yes I am. It's a good plan" Tommy says also raising his voice
"To you! All you do is sit behind the scenes" I say now shouting
"You are capable Jade. More capable then anyone else" He shouts back
"No way not going to happen" I shout
"Why because of him?" Tommy shouts pointing at the door.
"Why would it be because of him?" I ask lowering my voice.
"Nick isn't your only best friend remember" Tommy says also lowering his voice
"So?" I ask
"I know you Jade. I saw the look you gave him. I see the way you glance over at the door every now and then" he say and I roll my eyes
"This isn't about him Tommy. Not in the way you think" I say
"Oh so you don't want to keep him away from your night life to protect him?" Tommy says raising an eye brow
"I don't need to protect him from my night life because know one knows it's me. I'm not ready for him to know" I say
"Yeah because you care about him. Jade you barely know the guy" he says
"I know him as well as I did when I told you" I say
"Then why haven't you told him?" He asks
"He was hired to protect me. How do you think he would react if he found out I went out every night risking my life?" I say
"Good point" Tommy says
"Is there no other way?" I ask
"No I have managed to narrow it down to the docks and I know they will be shipping them out tomorrow. You need to get there tonight." Tommy says
"But I don't know which container they will be in" I say
"Maybe if you told your boyfriend he could help" Tommy says and I throw a little statue thing I had on my desk at him.
"He's not my boyfriend" I say
"Then Can I have him? Cause he's gorgeous" Tommy says and I chuckle
"I'll see you tonight 6 o'clock" I say and he collects up the files and leaves my office. A minute later there was a knock at my door.
"Come in" I say and Elijah walks in
"You okay?" Elijah asks
"Yeah I'm fine" I say and he comes in and sits down opposite me
"You looked stressed" he says
"I'm always stressed" I say
"But you looked particularly extra stressed today" Elijah says
"It's because I have to make a decision. Ones that's hard but not that hard" I say
"If it's not that hard then why is it hard?" Elijah asks raising his eye brow
"I have a job to do but it's a hard job I could get help but that may involve telling the person the job therefore my secret and I don't how this person will react to my secret" I tell him vaguely.
"Do you trust this person?" He asks
"With my life" I say
"Then you should trust that the person trusts you and won't judge you or react badly." Elijah says
"Then I guess I should tell you" I say and he looks up at me surprised but with a huge smile on his face.
