We walk into the gazebo where we were sheltered from the rain.
"So why did you bring me here to talk?" Elijah asks
"Because it's a place I know to be safe to talk aloud" I tell him
"Ok so what do you want to tell me?" He asks
"I'm going to tell you why my parents hired you" I say then I take a deep breath. "A year ago I started dating this guy. He seemed great but he wasn't. Six months into our relationship he became controlling and possessive over me. Sure I like to feel protected and cared for even a little control but his was over the top and I felt trapped. 2 months later I tried to break up with him, he just became worse and even abusive. 3 months later I finally broke up with him. He was trying so hard to get me back but I stood my ground I had enough. 2 weeks ago he also had enough, however he hasn't given up. He uh sent me a letter. It basically said if I don't agree to be with him he will take matters into his own hands. My father thinks he'll kidnap me, my mother thinks he will kill me" I explain
"What do you think?" He asks
"I don't know. He's a crazy bastard. He would probably do both. He got off on the abuse. he didn't know it until he started abusing me." I tell him.
"How did he abuse you?" Elijah asks
"First he just hit me, then he fractured bones, even broke a few. He found hitting me with objects fun and I broke up just after he used sharper objects" I tell him
"Good job I'm around then" Elijah says as he nudges me
"Let's go. I'm going to be late to my meetings" I say and we leave.

~Elijah's point of view~
I drive Jade to work after our little chat. There was something about her that was so intriguing. She had these gorgeous pair of eyes, they were grey with a hint of green. On most people that would look dull but on Jade they had a sparkle to them. When she smiles I swore my heart would skip a beat, especially when you could see her dimples. She had long dark hair and she wore it up most of the time. She had an athletic body and when she removed her top the other night so I could stitch her wound up, I had to look away. Not because I felt awkward but because she was just beautiful and I had to look away to control my thoughts.
"Thanks Elijah" jade says. She seemed so sweet but she had a side to her that would scare most people. I haven't heard it a lot but when she gets angry and snaps you can here the change of tone in her voice.
"There's something I don't understand" I say to her as I help her out the car
"What's that?" She asks
"I've heard you angry and seen you protect yourself. How did he get the better of you?" I ask and I regretted it straight away when I saw the look on her face. She went pale.
"I thought I loved him Elijah. He got the better of me because I was terrified of him" she tells me.
"What's his name Jade?" I ask. Listening to the sound of her voice, hearing her so scared made me angry.
"Lewis Carter" She tells me and my heart drops recognising the name.
Jade was in meetings all day. I wait outside her room and followed her around like I normally do. When I wait I usually do sudoku puzzles or play on my phone.
"Elijah I'm finishing late tonight I won't be done until at least 11" jade comes over and tells me.
"Fine by me" I say. She didn't sleep until late last night and she was up early this morning. She is over working herself and I'm not surprised. It's either working or constantly looking over her shoulder.
"Sarah please just make coffee tonight" jade sighs heading into her office and sitting down at her desk.
"Sarah can you do me a favour?" I ask
"Yeah sure but make it quick." She says
"Here's my number. If jade leaves the building call me. I'm going to get her some dinner. She's been here all day and hasn't eaten all day" I say
"Sure. Her favourite place is a Chinese shop down the road. Special fried rice. If you get her some fortune cookies she'll love you forever" Sarah tells me. I nod understanding her and then I leave. The Chinese Sarah was talking about was only a minute walk away. When I get there I order a box of special fried rice and some fortune cookies. Then I head back to Jade's building. I knock on the door and wait for her to reply
"Come in" She says and I go in and hold up the bag. She tilts her head confused
"You haven't eaten all day" I say
"Thanks I guess I could take a break." She says. I pass her the bag and her face lights up when she saw what was inside
"How did you know?" She asks raising an eye brow
"Sarah" I tell her smirking and she rolls her eyes.
"Thanks. You didn't get anything for yourself?" She says
"No I'm not that hungry" I tell her.
"Tough you're eating with me. I'm not eating alone and you can distract me from this work I have to do" She says.
"Jade honestly it's ok" I begin but she interrupts me
"No you're not making any excuses sit your ass down while I'll get some plates" she says. I chuckle and sit down. She was so bossy and stubborn it was just part of her personality and it just made her more desirable to me. She finds two plates and some cutlery. She dishes out the food and hands me a fortune cookie.
"What does yours say?" Jade asks me with a little excitement in her voice
"If you want a rainbow, you must to put up with the rain" I say reading my piece of paper "what's that supposed to mean?" I ask rhetorically although Jade answers anyway
"Maybe you have to put up with my stubbornness and anger issues before you get my sweet innocent side" She says with the biggest smirk on her face.
"What does yours say?" I ask smiling back at her
"Um be true to yourself and everything will be fine" she says although she didn't seem happy about it. We eat dinner and when we finished Jade gets on with her work.
