CHAPTER 9: THE MISHAP OF LOVING AND WHAT IF'S

Gerald’s POV

It was days not seeing and talking to her. I miss Sarah so much, that I feel so pained, alone and vulnerable. The situation is taking a toll on me. I am also feeling weird inside why am I feeling this way towards, Bea?

We are inside my car both of us in deep thought until she asked me if I am okay. I told her I miss Sarah. I know she so again the vulnerability in my eyes and was so touched by her that I can’t helped but ask myself,

“What If?”

I saw her closing her eyes getting ready for a nap. I don’t know if I saw loneliness, pain or regret in that simple action but one thing is for sure what she is feeling is the same with mine. I touched her hand and told her,

Gerald: Sige, Sige you sleep first, I’ll just wake you pagnasa condo na tayo. He told her with a s sweet and sensitive undertone.

She just nodded at him as a response. He then again felt something inside, he don’t know what and that made him held her hand on the entire drive to her condo, doing soft circular motions on the back of her hand using his thumb. He don’t know why he did it and he feels that Bea was confused to, he saw it in her eyes. He ignored the confusion inside him and continued the soft caress he was doing, he enjoyed the sensation of it all.

Why? The hell, he doesn’t know!

They arrived at her condo after an hour; they both entered the condo, Lisa in tow.

Inside Bea’s Condo

Bea: Ge, ano pahinga ka muna dito sa sala. Pasok lang ako sa room, medyo masakit balakang ko eh wanted to rest for a while. Nood ka muna tv. She told him.

She then instructed Lisa to prepare a snack for Gerald.

Bea: Lisa gawa mo ng sandwich si Ge, and juice.

Lisa: Opo, Ate.

Beas: So ano Ge, okay ka lang dito.

Gerald: Sige, balik ako dito sa sala, I’ll tuck you in bed, first. He unconsciously told her.

What made him said that? He annoyingly asked himself and noticed Bea’s shocked and confused eyes.

Bea: I can managed, Ge. You don’t have to do that. She told him in an assuring tone.

Gerald: Nah, I wanted too. He then grabbed her hand and pulled her gently towards her bedroom.

For the nth time that afternoon he saw various colors of confusion in Bea’s eyes. He himself cannot understand why he is acting like this.

“What the hell is happening to him?”

Upon entering the room, Bea suddenly said,

Bea: Ge, bihis lang ako. Intayin mo na lang ako dito. She said in a soft bewildered voice.

He nodded to her and sat himself in the edge of the bed while he waits for her. When she went out of the bathroom he immediately stood up and guided her to the bed. He then tucked her in and laid a blanket on top of her. He then looked at her bewildered and vulnerable eyes; he stared at her for a while, until he felt his face getting closer to her and without thinking, kissed her. She gasped at first and after a few seconds felt her surrendering to the kiss. He then went out of his reverie and suddenly stopped. He looked into her pained eyes and said,

Gerald: “I am sorry, Beys, the kiss was a mistake! He exclaimed and stood up from the bed. He was about to go out of the room and the condo when he can’t resist but looked back at her again.

He then saw loneliness, pain and frustration from her crying eyes. He can’t bear what he saw in those eyes, and went out of the the condo  without uttering a word….
