CHAPTER 18: BACK IN THE GAME

Sarah’s POV:

It was a typical Monday morning at her office; she has an early meeting with her team to discuss the project with SVI. She informed her team that they will be meeting with the project team from SVI by Wednesday so they need to finish the recruitment proposal and timeline setting by tomorrow morning for they will be presenting it with their big bosses’ tomorrow afternoon,for approval. They were deep into planning when the office receptionist knocked on the glass door of the boardroom and looked for her.

She was stunned when the receptionist informed her that George is asking for her at his office. George very well know that she is blocked the whole Monday for her team’s planning session. She then informed the receptionist to tell George, to give her 15 minutes as she has important matters to discuss with her team. The receptionist nodded and left. She instructed her Senior Recruiter to take over her position as she is needed by George. She gave her team a few more instructions and left.

She arrived at George office after 5 minutes; she burst into his office and said,

“George, make sure that this is an important matter, I have a team planning going on right now and you very well know that. If I may ask what is the very important thing you needed from me that I needed to be disturbed.” She teasingly asked him as he is well aware that it pissed her off when she is interrupted in a middle of a meeting.

Have a seat first Kiddo. Her boss told her lightly but she can already sense that she is in for a not so pleasant treat as she can sense it from the tone of his voice.

She then obeyed him and sat at the chair across his table. After seeing her properly seated, he then said,

“Mr. Gerald Anderson is on his way here to meet up with you and discuss some details regarding the project.” He seriously told her.

We were scheduled to meet them on Wednesday right? Why do we need to meet now? Everything will be discussed on Wednesday, What’s with this meeting, George? She asked her boss with a confused voice. She was also controlling her emotions as she is agitated in seeing him again but she doesn’t want George to notice that.

Kiddo, there are little details in the project that your team and you needed to know ahead of time and should be included in your planning stages, hence is your meeting with him. Her boss told her with his usual teasing sarcasm.

“Okay, would he be meeting with my team regarding those little details?” She asked Goerge casually.

The meeting is with you only; it is your responsibility to pass on the details to your team, later on.

“Alright, no problem!” She impassively answered, George.

So anymore questions, kiddo? George asked her.

“Ah would you join us, George?”  She casually asked him.

She was crossing her fingers at her back, silently praying that her boss will say yes, but faith has a way of getting on her bad side,

Sorry, kiddo, I have a previous appointment that is set. So I guess it is just the two of you, for now. He told her confidently.

“Okay, just asking, thanks for informing me ahead of time, George.” She smiled at him and masked her trembling emotions.

She was silently reciting her mantra as she walks back to the boardroom.

She was silently listening on her team’s strategies when she was informed that Gerald already arrived and was looking for her.

She then instructed Danna to assist him into her room and tell him to wait for her for 15 minutes as she is still in a meeting. Danna nodded at her and left the room.
