Chapter XVII

Failure

It was midnight when he bumped his head in the window of the bus, waking him up. He forgot to turn off his music player which has low battery already so he turned it off. He began to look around him. All of his schoolmates were sleeping. the air pressure was clogging his ears so he tried to clear it.

He saw Gregor sleeping with his mouth widely open. He giggled. He tried to go back to sleep and then he slept. After a couple of hours he woke up. It was a stop over. He bought cup noodles and a bottle of water. After eating, he went back to the bus along with his classmates.

The bus started to move. He again went back to sleep. It was five in the morning when they got on their destination, a school in which they have to compete. They got their luggages and then went to their own rooms.

It was the first day of their competition consisting of four days. After he settled his things, he took a bath and then he went to the canteen with his schoolmates.

"Their canteen is a money-chip system right?"Juliet asked.

"Yeah." Toby said.

"I'm so nervous!" Molly said.

"Yeah I think I'm gonna die!" Angelique said.

"The competition will be as easy as pie."

"Pfffft what a joke!" Angelique exclaimed.

"Ham and eggs..." Toby said.

"Come on don't complain that's still food ya know!" Molly said.

"Food deserves respect too!" Madeline joked.

"What the...?" Toby said.

Their breakfast were served. They ate their breakfast. Greg, concern of his diet, ate only a half of his ham, a half of the egg, and half of his rice also. Molly noticed his plate.

"Wasted food." Molly said.

"Eat if you pity." Greg said.

"Eeeewwww!!" Molly shouted.

After they ate their breakfast, they went to their own rooms segragated by gender. Toby with his roommates fell asleep due to exhaustion at their trip. they woke up at noon. They took their lunch, and then they registered at the registration area. Toby's competition will begin tomorrow.

In the night, they had their opening program. It ended at ten in the evening. After the program, they went back to their rooms to sleep. He charged his phone. After a while he checked his phone with five messages. All from Mandy. It was all about greeting, miss messages and love messages. He replied back at her apoligizing that he read them late.

The next day stepped in. He took a bath and then he prepared. His competition will start after lunch. He rested for a while. He took his lunch and began going to the place where he will compete.

The quiz bee started. He browsed through his memories on what Mandy taught him. The questions were a bit easy for him. His problem was, his opponents were also very good, in fact even better than him.

Evening came and then the results were shown. Only top ten were chosen. He quickly went to the lobby where he can find the result. When he saw the result, he was so shocked. He slowly walked back to their room. They asked him about the results.

"I failed."
