The Open Forum

The next day, Toby went down, drank coffee, and then took a bath. He brushed his teeth, wore his sunday attire, and went on the chapel. He served but his friends observed that his actions were a little bit odd. He was so silent that anyone who tried to talk to him will just be ignored.

David observed that too. He talked to Toby after the mass.

"Bro, I know it is very hard for you to be experiencing this situation but you have to let go."

...

"Did you sleep?"

"No..."

"I'll tell our adviser about this. Go home."

"... no..."

"What do you mean?"

"I have to thank God for this hard challenge..."

"What  do you mean!? Are you turning your back from Him?"

"It's not like that..."

"Then what is it?"

"I wanted to express my gratitude by praying... This problem tells me who I am now..."

"Who you are? Ofcourse you know who you are..."

"Yes but now I changed..."

"Dude I really don't get what you're saying."

"I'm not asking you to understand what I am saying in fact you were the first one to approach me..."

"Okay then, I just hope you get over it now."

They ended their conversation. It seemed that everyone is asking about his mysterious attitude at that moment. He ignored it. It annoyed him a lot.

The next day, he changed his sitting arrangement. This time he was at the center of the other group of sitting arrangment. He separated himself from Mandy's group. Gwen saw Toby and she felt guilty about what she did.

She can see that the other group were trying to make him happy which somehow didn't work on him. He was just there, as silent as dead, as cold as the mourning, as pale as corpse.

She tried to start a new conversation with him.

"It's ally fault for showing you the video..."

...

"I'm terribly sorry!!!"

...

"Toby... I'm really affected on how you behaved..."

...

"Toby, I'm very sorry for what happened!!! I support you more than him!"

"You apologized for another's fault while the other is having comfort... Well I guess that's true friendship. You tend to sacrifice yourself for someone's happiness."

"Toby don't blame her! She doesn't know what she's doing!"

"Hahaha why wouldn't I? I also heard from one of my friends at what she said."

"What is it?"

"She said "It's up to you to comfort this man.""

"But she apologized already... right?"

"Well, I can see that she apologized and I can still see her as happy as she was before... I can say that was too sincere."

"Sarcasm?"

"Ofcourse hahahaha! Insincerity!"

"She didn't just insincerely apologized to me, she also insulted me. So I guess she deserved a payback. Maybe not now but time will come for everything."

"Don't tell me you will do something!"

"Ofcourse I won't, I will just watch and laugh on how she will suffer when time comes. I will just let natural things happen. Her pain is my gain."

She was shocked at what he just said. She felt that he was not the Toby she knew back then.

"You don't need to apologize to me. You apologize to her because you made her add her problems by showing me that video. I don't have problems anymore, just patience to wait for her pain."

"Vengeance doesn't satisfy you Toby."

"I'm not saying that vengeance satisfies me, I'm just saying that Karma is my satisfaction."

Toby ended their conversation. Gwen felt that he is very mad at the world. She even remembered his message to her last thursday about preparation for that afternoon.

At last, afternoon came. Wyonne set up the forum. Everyone was settled. Wyonne approached Toby, saying she was done on her part. Toby whispered to her.

"Well, just make the world a better place."

"I will."

'By getting rid of those who worsen it.' Toby followed but he didn't tell it.

The open forum... had just begun.
