Chapter XXI
Dispute
On monday, everything didn't go well. Toby, at all times, tried to talk to Mandy but she didn't even talk that much back to him. Gwen seemed to observe that too so she gave a sign to Toby not to interfere. Toby nodded and he whispered, "Let's talk".
Toby exchanged places with Gwen's seatmate. Their teacher wasn't at their classroom yet so they had enough time talking.
"What happened? Seems like something's bugging her?" Toby asked.
"Toby, I'll tell you two things, first is that it's because of your niece and her friends."
"Not again?! What did they do?"
"When Mandy won the miss junior, she saw Jessica giving her a killer look."
"Why in the world..."
"Yeah... Making her feel bad today."
"How about the other one?"
"Oh you don't wanna know..."
"Tell me."
"It was about another suitor of Mandy. Toby, I warn you, do not..."
"I understand."
"And it looks like she's always bugging me with his text messages."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean like she always gets excited whenever that man texts."
"Continue."
"Yesterday he texted me about their long dance with Mandy. I said that he should back off because she already had one. But he still insists."
...
"Are you okay Tobias?"
"Maybe. Who knows..."
"Don't worry I always support you."
"Yeah sure thanks Gwen."
"Ever heard of lifepulp?"
"Not really."
"It helps you get up from your problems."
"Facebook?"
"Yeah."
They ended their conversation as their teacher went inside their classroom. Toby went back to his seat. The sitting arrangement was recently changed but Toby refused to change places just because of Mandy.
The next day, Toby and Mandy are both depressed. They didn't manage to talk to each other, not even a time to stare at each other. They had their own little worlds. Toby tried to start a new topic but he just couldn't get her attention. She kept on texting someone with her cellphone hidden while the teacher is discussing.
Toby tried to ignore his problems and went to JP, Jonathan, Dave, and Isaac. Dave brought his guitar. They all recite together. Toby was temporarily satisfied. Dave and JP brought their guitars so they played with their instruments and sang while recess time.
Toby still managed to get intact with his problem regarding Mandy so he went back to his seat. He tried to hold Mandy's hands but she resisted.
"What's wrong Mandy?!" Toby furiously asked.
"Nothing..." Mandy replied.
"Because of my niece isn't it? You had your award they had their jealousy so please stop going like this!"
"Toby... It's hard to let go of it..."
"Then I'll help you let go."
"There will be free half day on Monday to be scheduled on the afternoon." Matthew said to Toby.
"Toby, we planned for our own food." Mandy said.
"What do you mean?" Toby asked.
"Go ahead and join Jessica's group since you belong there, don't mind me, I'm good with my friends anyways."
"What? I don't get it."
"I mean we will have our own food with Gwen and the others except your group. The last time we had our half free day they didn't leave us food."
"It's not my fault! It's theirs!"
"I know Toby. It's fine don't mind me, I know you're not like them. I just don't want you to involve in this small selfishness of ours."
'Mandy.... What happened to you...'
The next day, Toby arranged a planning for their free half day. Then Rachel and Wyonne hosted the planning. Wyonne Irkman, 15-year old girl who has the same last name with Isaac. She almost has the same attitude with Matthew in terms of corrections.
When Rachel suggested, the tyrant group suddenly boasted for immense support while on the other hand, Gwenn suggested but with no spirit to support her suggestion.
This started the misunderstanding between the two group. Trying to defend their own sides. Ofcourse the tyrant group have vast number to suppory their own side. Toby wasn't able to join sides. He didn't say a thing. He couldn't even comfort his beloved Mandy who cried fighting against the other group.
Actually there were three groups. The other group claims they were neutrals and have nothing to do with the fight of the other two opposing groups. Some of the neutral groups were former members of the tyrant organization.
Toby claimed himself that he wasn't on the three groups. All he ever wanted was to settle this long term dispute but he didn't even interfere. He didn't have the courage to speak his own side.
He wanted to create another group that only desired peace. He couldn't take any longer devastations in the war. He wanted to look further on the mistakes of each other's point of view.
All he ever wanted... is peace.
