Sans wasn't lying when he said Lightning Song appeared tired. Lightning Song was exhausted. She had met many new people she hoped to call her friends one day, Sans had nearly died- or whatever what was happening to him- right in front of her, and then she was walked to Alphys's lab to do some tests.

Along with being tired, though, Lightning Song was also incredibly confused. Alphys, Papyrus, and Sans had talked about something called a SOUL. She wasn't sure what a SOUL was, but she knew they all had made a huge deal about it. Sans knew what a SOUL was; she would ask him.

Once Lightning Song and Sans appeared in her room, Sans set Lightning Song down. She turned to him and tried to blink the tiredness away, looking up at him with foggy eyes. "Sawns? What's a SOUL?" she asked.

Sans laughed and got down on one knee so he was close to my height. He ruffled my mane and flashed a smile. "Well, a SOUL... A SOUL is the very culmination of your being, I guess you could say. Flowey is gonna teach ya a little more about that."

"Do I have one? Alphys said 'She has a SOUL!'" Lightning Song mimicked, her eyes going wide as if to copy Alphys's facial expression at the time, too. "She seemed pretty upset about it..."

Sans nodded. "You have a SOUL. Alphys wasn't upset she... She was just shocked, kid, that's all," Sans answered, not sure how much of this Lightning Song was picking up on.

"Is it bad that I have a SOUL?"

"Uh..." Sans hesitated. In all honesty, he had no idea whether it was good or bad. He didn't know what it meant for Lightning Song and what it meant for him. But the fact that she had a SOUL, something exclusive in only his dimension, made Sans realize that maybe him and Lightning Song were connected. By what, he didn't know. But what were the chances he felt his presence when Lightning Song was around and the fact that she had a SOUL? "I wouldn't say it's bad..."

Lightning Song nodded, her ears drooping slightly. Would having a SOUL change Sans's opinion on her? What if he didn't come around anymore?

"Now that we're on the topic of SOULs..." Sans's smile widened, showing Lightning Song he wasn't upset at her or anything of the sort. "Let's see yours." And with that, Sans dropped his hand down to Lightning Song's chest, near where her heart was located. Suddenly, a metallic-like heart with a rainbow tinge appeared in his hand.

Both Lightning Song's and Sans's eyes widened down at the heart. Lightning Song quickly connected the dots and realized that this heart in Sans's hand was a SOUL. Her SOUL.

Sans blinked a few times, trying to process exactly what kind of SOUL this was. He knew that, somehow, her SOUL contained every human SOUL trait. But why was the SOUL silver? Why did it appear to be metal? And what was with the rainbow tinge that reflected off of her SOUL?

"That's my SOUL?" Lightning Song whispered, as if being any louder would cause a disturbance.

Sans slowly nodded before extracting his hand back. He blinked a few more times as Lightning Song's SOUL disappeared, trying to process what the hell kind of SOUL that was. "Yeah... That's your SOUL, kid..."

Lightning Song gave Sans a small smile. "What does your SOUL look like?"

Sans then brought one of his hands to his own chest, a white, upside-down heart appearing in the palm of his hand. "Monster SOULs are nothin' special." He laughed dryly.
