Training with Toriel wasn't what Lightning Song thought it out to be. Lightning Song knew Toriel was supposed to teach her the basics of "mercy" and kindness. However, she didn't think she would have to learn with a training dummy. More specifically, she thought it was silly that Toriel had her direct kind words to a motionless object. Well, it was her job to listen and perform, not to comment on Toriel's training techniques. So, she did as she was told.

Toriel did help Lightning Song learn more about humans and monsters, too. Unlike Asgore, who wouldn't tell Lightning Song much and told her to go to Sans, Toriel would just simply tell her. Lightning Song learned that monsters and humans were once separated for many years. The cause or this is because humans feared monsters and their power. But Lightning Song couldn't understand why. If anything, the monsters should have been afraid of humans.

Sans had once said "Monster SOULs are nothing much," and that "Monsters can't even begin to compare to humans when it comes to SOULs". Not only that, every monster Lightning Song had met was incredibly nice! Why did humans have to fear monsters? It was the only question Toriel didn't answer for Lightning Song. She told her to wait a bit longer.

So humans feared monsters, and monsters feared humans. Why did everyone in this world have to fear something? Why couldn't they all live in harmony like the ponies in Equestria did?

Lightning Song tried not to let it bother her.

When training with Toriel was over, she and Lightning Song returned inside to eat the pie Toriel had left to cool off. Lightning Song absolutely loved Toriel's pie; down to the smell to the taste, her pies never disappointed. Sans had woken up once Lightning Song had finished. He yawned and stretched, reluctantly getting off of the couch. He greeted Lightning Song and Toriel and slipped into a chair next to Lightning Song.

"How did training go?" Sans asked, his voice still somewhat gravely. His pupils were dim, and Lightning Song assumed they would brighten up once he moved around a little.

Toriel smiled at Lightning Song. "It went great. Don't you think, dear?"

Lightning Song nodded. "Yeah, and I got pie afterward." Toriel and Lightning Song giggled together.

"Oh, Sans." Toriel suddenly turned back to the counter and set two pies on separate plates in front of him. "Could you give one of these to Frisk on your way up there? I believe you're going there next?"

Sans nodded, bringing one of the plates closer to him. "Yep. And I'm assuming this one if for me?" Sans didn't wait for a response, he was already eating the pie in front of him.

"Yes, it is." Toriel laughed, starting the water in the sink to wash the dishes. "I enjoyed my time with you today, Lightning Song."

"I did, too." Lightning Song smiled and jumped out of the chair when Sans got up, Frisk's pie in his hand. She started up the stairs with him, letting him take the lead. Halfway upstairs, they heard Flowey's voice again. But this time, he was actually talking to someone.

Sans got to the top of the stairs and paused, listening closely. He gripped the plate in his hand tightly, trying to make out Flowey's muffled words.

"Frisk, why can't you tell Toriel and Asgore about me?" No response. "It's not fair. That stupid skeleton knows, you know." No response. "You know you can talk around me, right? You won't summon them-"
