Training with Mettaton was a very different experience than it was when she trained with anyone else. Mettaton was very fond of himself, and he had this way of putting confidence in the most insecure people. In all honesty, it was inspiring. And Lightning Song could tell Mettaton inspired a lot of people to make their dreams come true. That was just the kind of person he was.

Lightning Song figured out that he was very self-absorbed, always singing his own praises and bragging about his talents. But after while of spending time with him, it's pretty clear Mettaton didn't always think highly of himself. He was always going on about being true to yourself, and that he didn't always have the confidence he had today. Lightning Song figured there may have been more under the surface.

But Mettaton did have a right to brag, Lightning Song would admit. He really was as talented as Papyrus had told her. She should have definitely believed it, considering Sans didn't interject in any way and the whole thing was his idea. Mettaton was very experienced in the music field and would start with teaching Lightning Song the basics. Since Lightning Song couldn't meet with Mettaton on a daily basis, Mettaton informed her to look over what they went through every day.

Lightning Song liked Mettaton. He had this certain charm to him that Lightning Song liked to be around. She didn't blame Papyrus for being a huge fan of Mettaton's; he certainly did live up to his expectations. He could be loud sometimes, but it was just his way of being expressive. Lightning Song wished that she could spend more time with Mettaton aside from just having two days a week with him.

About a week passed, and Lightning Song's training with everyone was going just fine. She was learning a lot from everyone and she appreciated their help greatly. Things with Sans were running smooth- he hadn't been attacked by that strange monster in awhile. He would occasionally run another test with Alphys just to check how stable he was doing. Nothing strange had happened in a few days.

Until now, that is.

Sans had just dropped Lightning Song off at Alphys's lab. He took his leave quickly because it was clear Alphys was about to go on one of her anime rants. Sans cared for Lightning Song, but no way in hell would he get caught up in that. He had teleported into the kitchen to grab something to eat when he felt it again.

The feeling was familiar and strange at the same time. It started with that stab, like a knife lodged into the very core of his SOUL. Even before the voice had started to taunt him, Sans already knew that feeling. But this time, it seemed to never end. Back then he would have turned into dust.

Then he felt like he couldn't breathe, and Sans gripped his chest on instinct. Of course it wasn't going to stop the pain, but he didn't know what else he could do. His mind was starting to go fuzzy, and his SOUL would feel like it was twisting in a few seconds. He knew the voice would come soon.

"For as long as I could remember, no one would listen to me."

Sans flinched, and then he felt the blood running down his mouth and onto his jacket. He had a grip on his SOUL and the other was gripping the refrigerator handle tightly. And for a moment, for a brief moment, Sans was thinking he could fight it.

"And no, I never told people what to do. I would cry out for help, I would try to get someone to understand that I deserved a chance, too."
