Lightning Song was to train with Sans next. Or, well, Sans couldn't really call it training. He really hadn't planned out what he wanted to help Lightning Song with. He just figured the hour she had with him could just be a break for her. By the time their hour was up, Toriel and Frisk would be home, and it would be their turn to train Lightning Song.
Lightning Song and Sans had appeared in the living room, where Papyrus quickly greeted them. He was currently Mettaton's show, his attention now only half on Lightning Song and Sans.
"How is training going?" he asked, eyes still transfixed to the TV. Sans flinched at the sudden explosion and the loud, robotic voice that followed after. That was Mettaton's show for you.
Lightning Song smiled over at Papyrus even if he wasn't looking at her. "It's going great. What have you been doing today?"
Finally, Papyrus directed all his attention to Lightning Song and Sans. "I'm waiting for dinner time. I'll have to heat up that spaghetti we made earlier today." He suddenly looked over to Sans. "I recall you saying everyone would be joining us for dinner?"
Sans nodded. "Yep. I wanted to explain more about her SOUL. So far, only Asgore doesn't know about her havin' a SOUL."
"You haven't told him?"
"Forgot." Sans shrugged, smoothing down Lightning Song's mane as an attempt to distract himself from the tension with his brother. "Anyway, I'll be upstairs with LS. Give me a holler when Toriel and Frisk come back."
Papyrus didn't reply back, he simply turned back to the TV, an immediate smile coming to his face after he turned back. Lightning Song figured he really, really loved that show.
Sans started up the stairs, holding the stair railing with one hand while Lightning Song was tucked under the other. Once he reached his and Papyrus's room, Sans reached for the doorknob. However, when he went to open the door, he noticed a slab of light from down the hall. Frisk's door was open, and Sans could hear muttering from a certain flower inside.
Lightning Song and Sans exchanged a look, and Sans felt Lightning Song hold onto him tighter. Sans gave her a look that said "Stay quiet" and started towards Frisk's door. Now, Sans wasn't much of an eavesdropper, but Flowey had acted rather hesitant whenever Sans had asked him if he knew a pink flower. He wouldn't listen for long, and if Flowey was just muttering gibberish, then Sans would leave immediately.
When he got closer to the room, it was Lightning Song who felt Sans hold on tighter to her. They stopped only a few feet away from Frisk's door, just enough to hear but far enough so Flowey couldn't see their shadows.
"A pink flower... No... No, I'm sure he stayed in the underground. He had to. Maybe I should go back- check on him. No, can't do that. Frisk would never let me wander off by myself, especially not in the underground..." Flowey sounded agitated, and Sans could barely pick up his words because he was so quiet. "That trashbag of a monster... Asking me if I knew a pink flower... Ridiculous. Where did he even get that idea? How did he... know?"
Sans felt his SOUL drop, and now he was holding onto Lightning Song with both arms. He wasn't even breathing; he had to stay as quiet as possible. How did he know? Sans repeated in his head.
"Whatever. If he comes back around... I'll have a talk with him. I can't let him ruin what I have now. I have a family. He shouldn't have left his," Flowey sighed. "Now I'm just being a jerk. I know he wasn't wanted in his household..."
