"And that's a brief summary of who Mettaton is!" Papyrus exclaimed, finishing up his explanation on monsters' main source of entertainment. He crossed his arms as he walked and ignored the sudden scoff from Sans.
"Brief summary?" Sans mocked, rolling his eyes and slipping his hands into his pockets. "That took nearly thirty minutes." He looked down at Lightning Song, who was excitedly listening to Papyrus as he talked about Mettaton. She certainly did look extremely interested.
Today was the day Sans was going to take Lightning Song to meet Mettaton. He had asked his brother to tag along, mostly because Sans didn't want anything to be awkward between him and Mettaton. Sans hadn't talked to him in months, and they weren't that close. Besides, Sans could only be around his obnoxious personality for less than ten minutes. The other reason Papyrus was here was because he absolutely insisted that he should go with Sans because he wanted to help his brother.
Papyrus also insisted that he explain everything about Mettaton to Lightning Song. And when Papyrus said everything, he absolutely meant everything. There were things Papyrus knew about Mettaton that the public most likely didn't even know about. Sans supposed that was just because he was Mettaton's superfan.
Mettaton had no idea they were on their way to introduce him to a pony from a whole other dimension. All he knew was that Mettaton had some free time today and was most likely spending time with his cousins (he only knew because Papyrus told him). Sans just hoped Mettaton would agree to help Lightning Song despite his tight schedule.
Lightning Song smiled up at Papyrus after he had wrapped up his explanation. She was trotting right next to Sans and would sometimes stop for brief moments just to watch a squirrel or a butterfly. "I think he sounds great!"
Papyrus smiled at Lightning Song and shot a dirty look at Sans. At least someone appreciated his helpful insight. "I'm delighted you think so, pony! Sans may not act like it, but he enjoys Mettaton's show, too!"
Sans shrugged and glanced up to find that they were nearing closer to Mettaton's studio. "I mean his show ain't bad, but I don't see any reason why the volume has to be all the way up when we're watching it." Sans thought back to all the times he thought his non-existent eardrums would burst every time he watched Mettaton's show with his brother.
"You just can't appreciate how to properly watch his show," Papyrus countered back.
Sans let out a small laugh. "Wasn't aware you had to watch TV shows in specific ways."
"Well-"
"Can't you two just agree to disagree?" Lightning Song huffed, noticing that the number of people they were passing started to increase. They were approaching the entrance to Mettaton's studio, which meant they were going to be caught into a huge crowd soon enough.
Sans noticed this and picked Lightning Song up, not wanting her to accidentally stray away from them and get lost. He surveyed the crowd of monsters and humans, figuring they were all waiting for the next show to start or to get tickets for future shows. Sans would never admit it out loud, but he was rather impressed Mettaton was able to run a whole television program with a live audience and even draw in a few humans in the process. Sans almost felt bad for Mettaton; it seems he rarely got any free time with writing the shows, assigning show dates, and ultimately performing them in the end. Mettaton really worked hard for his passion.
