Peter ran his hands against his jeans. He wasn't quite sure how to function around (y/n). He'd had crushes before, of course, but never on other boys. He tried to deny it at first. It was purely admiration, nothing more. Then he started to think about him constantly. When he woke up, (y/n), when he went to bed, (y/n), even throughout classes.
He thought about talking to May about it, but worried she might take it weirdly, as she did sometimes go overboard. He was almost certain that Ned would have no helpful advice for him, so he ruled out talking to his best friend about his crush.
He wasn't paying attention in the hall when his spider-sense triggered. He looked up just in time to see (y/n) barreling towards him. Thinking quickly, Peter caught the boy before he collided with the linoleum floor.
"Oh, hey, Pete!" The boy spoke. "Thanks for the catch." As he straightened his shirt out, he looked Peter directly in the eyes. "Actually, I'm glad I ran into you. Are you able to hang out after school? There're a few things I wanna talk to you about."
Peter couldn't manage to form words, the only things that came forward were along the lines of "ashu-um-ye-uh." He nodded frantically, trying to get his point across.
"Great," (y/n) sighed in relief. "My parents let me take the car today. If you want me to drive us to your place?" He added.
"Yeah-yeah, that sounds good," Peter stumbled. He could feel his cheeks get warmer and warmer with every word. The smile on (y/n)'s lips made his heart flutter. He was perfect.
"I'll see you in an hour."
Peter watched as (y/n) made his way down the hallway, quickly realizing he was going to be late for class if he didn't hurry up.

As the final bell rang, Peter was flying down the hall. He didn't know where to meet (y/n), so he assumed it easiest to wait at the boy's locker. Relief flooded his senses when he saw (y/n) waiting with a small smirk on his lips. He was about to stride over to Peter so the pair could leave, but a girl stepped in front of him.
"(Y/n)! Where are you going? I wanted to talk to you."
"Not right now, Tina. I thought I told you I didn't want to talk about it anymore."
"I'm your girlfriend, you have to talk to me!" Peter felt his heart ache at her outburst.
"You're not my girlfriend, and you never will be. I'm not interested in you, so stop trying to get with me."
"Just tell me why you won't date me!" A look of confliction crossed (y/n)'s face. "Well?" Tina put her hands on her hips, awaiting a statement.
"Because I'm... already in a relationship." (Y/n) shot a worried look at Peter.
The girl's eyes widened. "With who?"
(Y/n) took a deep breath before answering concisely: "Peter."
"Him?!" Tina's bead flung to glare at Peter, who stood shocked.
"Yeah, and you're making us late for a date, so if you'd excuse us." (Y/n) smiled and grabbed Peter's hand in his own before walking out of the building.
After a few moments of silence in the car, Peter turned to the boy driving with a blush covering his face. "So, about that, uh... stuff?"
"I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable. I don't have to hang out if you'd rather I just went home."
"No, no, nothing like that," Peter assured. "I just wanna know why you used me. Is it just because I was there?"
"I'm not that shallow," (y/n) joked before becoming serious and nervous. "I said your name because, I, um," he took a shaky breath, "I really like you. That's what I wanted to talk about. I was gonna ask you out."
"Yes!" Peter jumped.
"What?" The other boy replied in utter shock. "You mean it?"
"In all honesty, I really like you too." Peter rubbed the back of his neck to ease his nerves.
"Never thought I would say this, but I'm glad Tina decided to make a scene today." He reached his hand over the center console, palm up. "Can I hold your hand?" He asked bashfully.
"Absolutely," Peter mumbled with a large grin. For once, it all worked out for him.
