"You can't just get up and leave Demi! The girls are still too small and I deserve to be around!" Joe exclaimed and Demi sighed finding herself playing with the bed sheet below her. She hadn't been looking forward this conversation since she had discussed it with her parents.
"We won't be going until the girls are big enough and the doctors say they are okay to fly but I didn't see like I had much of a choice Joe. It was either this or you spend however long in prison. I couldn't let you do that." Demi explained.
"I know that but now you and my daughters are gonna be halfway across the world and I'll never get to see any of you." Joe stressed slightly getting up.
"I-I'm sorry." Demi stammered and Joe sighed slightly.
"It's not your fault, you were doing what you thought was best. It probably is the better option over prison to be honest," Joe admitted. "But it's fine, I'll get a lawyer or something, see if they can come up with something and if not I'll just move out to London too and find a place not far away." Joe shrugged his shoulders.
"I just wish I was older, you know? Then I could do whatever I wanted." Demi mumbled and Joe sat back down next to her grabbing hold of her hand. She was kind of relieved that he still wanted to hold her hand.
"You can, you know? You can leave home at sixteen and they can't keep you there, that's why you came to live with us. It's just they are still your legal guardians and shit, that's the problem. If you refuse to go with them, they can still legally put the charge on me."
"Do you think there is a way around it?" Demi questioned.
"Probably but I'll look into it like I said. We'll work something out, don't worry about it." Joe demanded.
"It's hard not to worry about it, I don't want to live in London whilst you're here but I couldn't bare you to get a criminal record either." Demi mumbled again and Joe leaned over kissing her head gently leaving his lips there longer than needed.
"You did the right thing, this way I'm here to find a way because I'm going to." Joe demanded and Demi smiled.
"I love you." She spoke and he kissed her lips this time but he pulled away before she could kiss him back.
"And I love you too, I'm gonna sort this out. I promise." Joe vowed and Demi couldn't help but smile.
"You're just amazing." Demi declared and Joe laughed.
"So are you but you know now? You could move that ring to your finger?" Demi smiled taking the necklace off.
"So everyone will know then?" Demi inquired and Joe nodded his head.
"Why not?" Joe chuckled. "It doesn't mean we're getting married anytime soon. It's there to show that we have a plan to in the future. We know it's what we want to do so why wait to make the first step?" Joe questioned slipping the ring off the chain and Demi couldn't help but smile as she slid it onto the right finger.
"I'll let you tell everyone that then." Demi grinned and Joe smiled.
"Move up a bit." Joe demanded and he helped her to move up a little bit without it causing her much pain. He sat on the side of the bed with her, his arm wrapped around her. Demi smiled at the closeness leaning her head on his chest.
__________
It was that afternoon that Joe and Demi were allowed to go see Tahlia and Tyler again. Demi had gotten some rest and Joe had too so they both felt much better about going to see them. They just wished they could bring them home and to a calm environment but everything that was going on at the moment, they didn't want the two girls going back to that.
"Aw look at them." Demi cooed as they approached them Joe pushing her wheelchair.
"They've not got oxygen now." Joe stated.
"Yes, the doctor saw signs that they'd be able to breathe on their own so we took them off and they're fine. You'll both be able to hold them now if that's something you want to do?" One of he nurses inquired and it didn't take much for the to agree.
"Of course." Demi replied.
"We'll wait until they want a feed then you can both hold them and give them a bottle." She replied a warm smile on her face.
"We just need to fatten them up then they should be able to come home." Joe grinned.
"We just need to sort my parents out first." Demi sighed sightly.
"Hey, don't worry about that now. That will get sorted. Let's focus on Tahlia and Tyler." Demi smiled nodding her head gently.
"Okay." She replied looking back at her girls.
Demi couldn't help but smile as Tyler was laid down in her arms. She couldn't get over how tiny her baby girl was but she made sure that she was holding her correctly and make sure that she didn't harm her in anyway. Demi looked up from Tyler though smiling when she saw Joe had told of Tahlia.
"I could get used to this sight." Demi grinned and Joe smiled.
"Same." Joe replied.
