"What??" I asked. My life has become a roller coaster ride in the past two days. My girlfriend cheated and here is my best friend who normally cringes at the mention of a date going on one.
"You were the one who suggested it. By the way, what happened with Irene??" Jane replied.
"She said she loves me and wants to explain herself to me."
"And??"
"And I am going to New Jersey in the evening"
"Congrats man!!", said Matt.
"Thanks and do you wanna explain how you convinced Miss Grumpy to go on a date with you??"
"Hey!!! I am not grumpy"
"Yes, you are. Don't you think Matt?"
"Last night didn't seem grumpy to me," Matt said betraying me. Well, she is the one who is going on a date with him. It's pretty obvious that he will take her side.
"See. Matt thinks I am not what you say I am. It's two against one. I win!! Yay!!" Jane said bouncing with happiness. I have not seen her this happy in years. Maybe Matt will bring about a change in her. I hope so.
"Now come on!! You have been deviating from the topic. Tell me, how did you say yes or you my man, how did you convince her??"
"It's a long story" Matt replied.
"I have more than enough time at my disposal"
"Don't you have to visit Irene??" Jane asked.
"Yeah I have to but she would be in the university now. That's why I will go in the evening"
"Okay!!"
"So back to the matter of concern"
"Bin!! You know it is not a big deal. I am going on a date like other regular twenty-one-year-olds"
"But you are not any other regular twenty-one-year-olds Jane," I said hugging her sideways and started moving towards the couch. It would be better if we sit. Matt followed us.
"I will be back in a minute. I really have to pee" Jane said and left.
"Matt!!"
"Yeah?"
"I just want to ask something"
"Yeah man. Go on"
"Are you serious??"
"Serious?? About what? Jane??"
"Yeah"
"Dude I met her yesterday. I can not decide that I am serious about her"
"Let me tell you something. She is the most amazing girl in the world and she seems a bit happier with you. She has suffered enough so if you aren't serious, don't lead her on. I don't want her to get hurt"
"What are you talking about guys?" Jane asked marching into our territory.
"We will finish off later" I whispered.
" Don't you eat food people?? I am dying of hunger here", Matt said.
"You didn't eat on the way here??" Jane asked, concern clear in her voice.
"Noo!! I wanted to treat the Daughter of Count Palatine with food made by me. May I have the honour of doing so?"
"How can I refuse the Heir of Versasia? I would be honoured to eat the food made by you"
What the hell are they talking about?
"Count Palatine?? Versasia? What is that?? And why are you acting like characters of a play"
"It's a long story Bin"
"Yeah, very long indeed," said Matt.
Why are they obsessed with long stories??
