"Greenfield is a killed or be killed kind of place, you gotta be ready or next thing you know, you'll be the next victim."
Greenfield was once a happy, peaceful place, but one small incident and the town takes a turn for the worst.
Demons, ghouls, v...
It was the day of the circus and the circus members were getting ready to perform.
Kimmy, the main act, sat in her dressing room, applying the last bit of her make-up.
All of the circus performers were pretty surprised that the circus was even starting up again after the incident that happened a few months ago.
The show was going pretty smooth. The crowd was impressed by the acts and the performers were having a good time. Everything was okay until a lion escaped from its cage, attacking an audience member and ripping their head off then devouring it whole.
The rest of the crowd fled, but they didn't get very far.
The rest of the story was kept a secret, but let's just say, not all of the circus members survived the incident.
Kimmy finished getting ready, gently fluffing her hair and leaving her dressing room. Walking down the hall towards her was John, the tightrope walker.
"Ready?" John asked Kimmy.
Kimmy nods slowly, looking down at her trembling hands.
"You're nervous, aren't you?" He asks.
She nods, "That incident can't seem to get out of my head."
John pats her shoulder, attempting to comfort her, "Everything will be fine, but try not to show your nervousness to the audience."
"And how will I do that?" Kimmy questions.
"Pretend."
At that, John walks pass Kimmy and continues down the hall, leaving Kimmy standing it confusing.
"What does he mean pretend?" She thought.
Eventually, she shrugged it off and walked back stage where all the other performers were.
"Okay guys. Tonight is very special, for the audience and for Autumn," Kimmy announced. Autumn was the manager, and tonight was extremely important to her. If anything were to happen tonight that wasn't planned, she would flip.
Everyone stood behind the big red curtain, Kimmy standing before everyone, as she was usually the first to walk upon the stage.
After a few seconds, Autumn's voice sounded on the microphone, announcing that the circus was about to begin.
He talked to the audience for a few minutes, then proudly announced, "And now, I present to you, Kimmy the Lion Tamer!"
At that, the curtain flies open, and Kimmy skips out to the middle of the stage with a large hoop in her hand. She gives the crowd a big smile, then turns to the three lion standing behind her.
"Ready?" She whispers to them. All three of them give a somewhat friendly growl letting Kimmy know they were ready.
At that, Kimmy took a few steps back, holding the hoop a few inches from the ground. One of the lions stepped forward, jumping through the hips briskly.
The same went for the other 2 lions, except, Kimmy rose the hoop a little more each time.
Once Kimmy was done, she bowed to the cheering crowd, then walked back behind the curtain.
The next act was the tightrope act.
John walked proudly onto the platform, admiring the crowd's cheers. After the audience grows silent, John takes a deep breath then sets one foot upon the thin rope.
He takes another deep breath, then places his other foot before the first one. He continues to do this until he was between the two platforms.
Meanwhile, Kimmy and Autumn panicked backstage as John's tightrope partner, Anika, was late and there was no one else willing to go up there as a last-minute partner.
"I'll do it." Kimmy says finally.
"Are you sure?" Autumn asks.
"I have no choice."
At that, Kimmy rushes from behind the curtain and over to the platform without making herself known to the crowd.
She hurries up the ladder and onto the platform, meeting eyes with John.
"What are you doing?" John whispers quietly to Kimmy.
"Anika isn't here, so I'm your partner now," Kimmy whispers back. John nods.
Kimmy carefully makes her was to John, giving him a light smile when they were face to face.
"Ready?" John mouthed. Kimmy nodded, positioning herself.
John then takes Kimmy's hand, swiftly picking her up and swinging her around until she was on the other side of him.
The crowd cheers and stares in amazement.
Suddenly, John's original partner, Anika, sprung from behind the curtain, her short red dress sparkling in the spotlight.
"What is she doing here?" John hissed quietly.
Kimmy shrugs, but their confusing is soon drowned out by fear as Anika marched over to the platform John was closest to and pushed her body against one of the poles until it began to tilt.
"W-What is she doing?" Kimmy stutters nervously. John was too frightened to answer.
"You took my partner!" Anika screams up at Kimmy, tilting it more.
"Maybe if you showed up on time I wouldn't be up here," Kimmy screams back.
"You may be up there now, but soon you won't," Anika threatens.
John and Kimmy attempt to rush back to the opposite platform. Kimmy made it to the other platform, but John struggled to keep his balance in order to reach Kimmy.
Anika then shoves the pole with all her strength, causing it to slowly fall over. The rope shook violently and John lost his balance completely and fell backwards, the back of his neck meeting the thin rope.
With a loud snap, the rope glided from John's throat as his body descended down to the stage. His head hit the ground last, a pool of blood slowly forming around it.
The rope caused Kimmy's platform to fall over too, causing her to hit the ground with a loud thud.
She looked over at John's body, shaking her head slowly in disappointment.
"This place is forever gonna be the circus of the dead."
