Being the new girl

Introduction

"Katie get up you're going to be late" mum shouted from downstairs. Today is my first day at Fallwood High and I'm so scared! We had to move because of my Dad's job so I left all of my friends behind, it sucks. "Leave me alone! I don't want to go in, I'll make no friends and act like such an idiot around people." I mumbled
"Sweetie you'll make lots of lovely new friends. Who wouldn't want to be friends with such a kind, intellegant girl?"
"Err, most people! Mum, this is stupid. Why couldn't I have just stayed at Ataway? Millie and Hannah were my life!"
Mum went silent after that, I presume she felt bad, and I didn't care. She could feel shit for all I cared! Well maybe that's a bit harsh as it was not her fault...but still, she could try and stick up for me at least.
As time ticked on, I could hear my little sister Emily getting up. I love her so much, she's been my rock through all of this. "Katie, mum said it's time to go! Have a great day sis and make lots of sweet big girl friends."
"Thanks Em, I'll try!"
And that was it, I dragged myself downstairs, grabbed some breakfast and legged it out of the door. Mum glanced over at me briefly and said "It will all work out OK darling, that I can promise you." Ha, yeah we'll see about that.
