NOTE: So this is about 3 weeks before the Grammys when he wins! So it's 2016 and the album has come out already and he wrote this song but didn't have much meaning for it but he learned its meaning!
Emily was driving down the road with Ed by her side. They were laughing together. No one else was on the road. She stopped at the red light and glanced at the gas station across the street.
"Emily no one else is here. You can keep driving." Ed told Emily.
"Drunk driver." She said looking out the window of her car.
"What?"
"Over ninety-five miles an hour at least. Coming my way. I think I'll wait for this one out." The light turned green.
"Emily its just right there. It's not gonna hit you." Emily looked at Ed and paused. She nodded. "It'll be OK."
But he was wrong.
"Shit." He murmured as they started to drive. Emily stepped on the pedal harder, but it was too late. "EMILY!" Ed screamed, right as the truck slammed into her side. He heard her gasp right after his screaming. The car flipped over twice, glass flying in the air. Ed's ear had a ringing in it. He wasn't even able to hear himself scream Emily's name. It all happened so fast, but Ed felt it was all his life almost. The car came to a stop finally. He looked at Emily worriedly. She looked torn up and horrible. She was unconscious too.
He got out of the car and ran her way, not caring if he was injured. He opened her car door and she fell into his arms. "EMILY!" He screamed. He pulled her in to feel her heartbeat. "No, no, no, no, no!" He panted. The people in the gas station ran his way to help. Two of them called the police, and the other three tried to calm Ed.
"There was a car accident. Horrible accident... one girl and a boy. The boy is OK. The girl is unconscious and looks pretty bad." The woman on the phone said. "The gas station on Glendale road. The gas station, the only thing in the street. Literally, the only thing!"
The man who was on the phone looked at Ed. "What's your name, ginger?"
"Ed. Ed Sheeran."
"Ed Sheeran." He said into the phone. The man looked at her. "Her?" He asked quickly.
"Emily Anderson." Ed looked at Emily with tears filling his eyes. The women said their names on their phone. "Please, please stay with me, Emily." He wept. "Stay with me, Emily! I still want you... I need you!"
"They're on their way!" From a distance past the trees, Ed could see red and blue lights hurrying their way. He gulped as he held Emily. "Sir are you alright?" One of the girls who hadn't spoke asked. Ed nodded.
"I'm fine. Just a few scratches, that's all. It's her I'm worried about." Ed stated worriedly.
Before he knew it, Emily was on a stretcher and Ed had paramedics surrounding him. Ed's eyes were following Emily. "When am I gonna see her again?" Ed asked worriedly.
One of them hesitated. "We'll let you go in a moment. You'll be alright. Its a miracle she's left alive after that accident. And with your condition, there's proof that God is real." Ed gulped, knowing Emily would argue within that. He nodded. "It looks like you came off with just a few bruises. Nothing serious."
Ed was finally at the hospital and he walked to the first nurse he saw. She looked worriedly at him. "I'm here for Emily Sheeran - Anderson. Emily Anderson." He stuttered.
"Oh," She said worriedly.
"Is everything alright?"
"She's in surgery right now. I'm supposed to wait for you." She led her near the room Emily was in. Ed sat down in a plastic chair with the nurse by his side.
