"Mr. Sheeran, it's been three weeks." The doctor said.

"I know, but I have faith-"

"We've had to do multiple surgeries, several dozen tests, and she's just not... she's not in a good state." The doctor sighed.

"I know this. But I have faith! And I know you don't. But... I'm very in love with her and I need her to stay. I don't care how much it cost for any more surgeries or anything. There is no doubt in my mind that she'll make it." The doctor sighed again.

"Let me show you these X-rays." Ed was taken to a room with the doctor.

"See these here?" The doctor pointed to a part of her leg. Ed nodded. "Those aren't supposed to look like that. Her neck is broken and so are both of her legs. She probably won't be able to stand up, much less walk again. I'm sorry." The doctor told Ed.

"Isn't there some way?"

"A lot of physical therapy. But after some patients wake up, they don't want it." The doctor told Ed.

"Emily isn't like that. She always wants to be out on her feet running around."

"I know, but it's very common to feel... possibly depressed and she may not want any therapy. It's perfectly normal to experience these feelings. But if she doesn't get any therapy, she won't be able to walk." Ed ran his hand through his hair.

"Ed! There you are!" Stuart said hurrying his way. "I've been looking all over for you!"

"What?"

"The Grammys! It's tonight!"

"Shit, that is!" Ed hurried out, then went straight to Emily's room.

"What are you doing?" Stu asked Ed.

"Telling her I love her, of course!" Ed stated. He turned to Emily. "My love, I love you more than anyone on the face of the earth. You know that? I'm gonna go win a Grammy for us. Us. I'm gonna do it for us. Alright? I love you." Ed kissed Emily's closed lips, then hurried out.

Ed sat with his parents and Stu, waiting anxiously for things to start. "Ed!" Taylor Swift exclaimed, hurrying his way. "How's Emily? Is she awake yet?" Taylor asked. Ed sighed.

"No. She's still not doing so good. Hasn't even woken up yet." Ed replied, his eyes down. "But, I've got hope for her. She'll hopefully be up and walking by a few months."

"Months?" Taylor asked.

"Months, yeah."

"We've still got a lot of hope though," Imogen said, looking at Taylor. "We think she'll be OK in the end," Imogen added.

"We've prayed." John, Ed's dad, said, nodding.

"That's good. In the end, I'm sure she'll be OK."

The 'Song of the Year' nomination was starting, and Ed bit his lip. Stevie Wonder stood up with Pentatonix, trying to open the award.

"So," Stevie started. "I'm gonna break this open. Pop it open, you know." Ed chuckled. "OK, so, um, Y'all, can't read this." Ed laughed. "You can't read it, you can't read brail! Na-Na-Na-Na-Nah!" Ed laughed again.

"I just wanna say, before saying the winner, that we need to make every single thing accessible to every single person with a disability." The crowd cheered. "And the winner is - and you know what? I told my daughter this song was a great song when I first heard it. And it has won tonight, 'Thinking Out Loud!'" Ed stood up, beaming. The audience cheered.
