Mr. Albright shakes his head.
"There is only one way we can solve this without actually dropping the charges."
"Anything that'll work. Please."
He rubs his chin, hesitating.
"I can speak with the judge and let her in on the little situation. She has a history of being understanding. Maybe she will temporarily drop the charges and release Calvin and Roxy until Julien is returned."
"So Calvin and Roxy will be released?"
"Just temporarily."
"How do we know they won't flee?"
"I can convince a cop friend of mine to watch over them until we can get them back."
"If you think it will work, I'm all in for it. Just, please make sure that this won't come back and bite us in the butt."
"I've been a lawyer for more years than you've been alive. And not only because I was assisting your mother while she was pregnant with you. Years before that even. I haven't lost a single case. I know that this will go as planned. I have friends in high places."
His words give me an odd sense of comfort.
