I was around Joe's house, which is predictable since I've been hanging out with him since we were 10 years of age. He lives next door which is a bonus as I hardly have to walk to meet up with him. We were currently sat on his bedroom floor laughing our asses off at a viral youtube cat video Joe found on the computer. 7 years I had been friends with Joe and 4 of those years I knew I had a crush on him.

I never had the nerve to tell him in fear of ruining our friendship, not to mention how he constantly refers to me as his 'Best Friend' which I love and despise at the same time. We calm down from our laughing fit, waiting for our once out of patterned breath to level out at a normal rate. I looked over to Joe who was laid on his back, I noticed his shirt had risen slightly causing a blush to rise in my cheeks. Why do I do this to myself.

"What should we do?" I say leaning my head against his bed frame, picking at the fluff on his carpet.

"Odd's on?" Joe suggests.

"I swear to god if you make me run down the street shouting 'my mums a llama' you will loose an arm" I warn recalling the last time we played this fun but devilish game.

"Awe you no fun y/n" Joe smirk, wrapping an arm around my shoulders.

The butterflies were back. At first I just bushed it off as a dodgy feeling in my stomach but when it starts to happen constantly over four years you just have to accept that your crush is on your best friend. And everybody could tell, I'm extremely bad at being discreet, yet Joe remains completely oblivious to it. Well, that may not be strictly true but he has never hinted at it only friendly gestures, like cuddling me or pushing my hair behind my ear.

"And you are" I retorted sarcastically, relaxing into Joe's side naturally.

"Rude" Joe gasps, releasing me from his grip.

Goodbye butterflies.

"Fine I'll play" I sighed, trying not to appear too disheartened that he wasn't holding me anymore.

"Okay I'll go first" Joe sat up excitedly.

"Ermm... odds on licking the computer screen?"

"1-3"

Joe counted down from 3

"2" "1"

"Ha I don't have to do it" I giggle giddily. Joe chuckled at my giddiness, leaning back onto his bed frame as well.

"Odds on calling Natalie and telling her you just took a giant dump and it reminded you of her"

"What the hell goes through your mind to think of that" Joe stares at me with wide eyes

"What can I say, my brain can conjure up the strangest things" I shrug

"I don't strangest is accurate enough from what going on up there" Joe point to my forehead

"It's a good job you can't see what's happening up here" I point to my fore head as well

"And why is that?"

Because its filled with thoughts of you

"Because you would want to pull your own eyes out if you knew" I purposely grin like a crazy person to Joe's amusement.

"Alright 1-4" Joe chuckles, sitting up slightly

"What! No 1-3" I retorted

"I'm not doing 1-3, 1-4 is my final offer" I held my hands up in defeat to Joe's response and counted down from 3

"3" "4"

"God damnit" I sighed, combing my hand through my hair.

"Ha ha yes!" Joe cheered

"Okay odds on" I waited for him to continue but he didn't say anything.

"What?"

"What?"

"Odds on what?" I asked, seeing a smirk form on his face.

"No it's a secret, just pick a number"

"No I'm scared"

"Don't you trust me" Joe brought out the puppy dog eyes

"Of course I do"

"Then pick a number"

A let out a long breath before replying "1-5"

"Big, but i'll take my chances" Joe smiled and started counting down from 3

"2" "2"

shit

Joe smirk grew wider, as did my eyes in shock.

"Of course, the one time I don't know what the thing is" I sulk

"Put your forehead against mine" Joe stated simply

"Why?"

"Just do it"

"I take it back, I don't trust you anymore"

"just do it y/n"

I reluctantly do as he says not thinking much of it until I release how close we actually are. I feel the heat rising up my neck and filtering into my cheeks. There was a second of silence until Joe closed the gap between us, locking his lips with mine. It took me a second to digest what was happening but I instantly kissed back when I'd processed it. We pull away, a giant smirk present on his face and a huge grin on mine.

"I knew it" he almost whispered

I looked at him confused
"Knew what"

He didn't even answer but kissed me again, my hand slung naturally around his neck. This would be a story to tell my friends, I could hear it now

"Why the kiss"

"I lost at odds on"
