~Fight Part 1~

“What’s wrong Lexi?”

I turned around and sighed as I saw Cassie and Aaron coming down the stairs. They had their arms around each other like Aaron was protecting her. It was cute, honestly. Cassie was accepted into the pack with opens arms. It was like she never wanted to leave. After Jay had dropped his dickhead attitude he realized how much of a great girl Cassie is. I could feel that she was hiding something every time anyone mentioned parents.

“Nothing, just worried about today,” I said getting up and giving Cassie a hug and Aaron a peck on the cheek. It was true; I was worried about the fight which was supposed to take place in a few hours. I hadn’t seen Jay all morning after I woke up in a cold bed. I still hadn’t told him about the dream. I guess once he got the message he had dropped the topic. In doing so, he began to avoid me, claiming he was too busy to see me or make time for me.

“It’s going to be okay. Jay is going to do everything in his power to defeat and kill that thing he calls a father and everything is going to be okay,” Cassie said with a smile. She hasn’t been here long but she already believes that Jay will win. “Babe, can you give us a minute to talk. I won’t be long. Go make breakfast or something.”

“Anything for you, angel. You want anything Lexi?” He asked as he reached the end of the stairs. I nodded no and watched as he walked into the kitchen. I slumped down onto the staircase and watched as Cassie sat down next to me.

“You still haven’t told Jay about the dream?” she asked, but she already knew the answer. I don’t know why I haven’t told him. It’s stupid, I know. I should have told him the night it happened, but the fear of him thinking I was different because I had a premonitions scared the hell out of me.

“I just don’t know how he will react when he realizes he’s going to die today.” I said. Cassie threw her arm around my shoulder and brought me into her chest, “It’s going to be okay.” Cassie stood and helped me up. We walked into the kitchen and watched Aaron trying to flip some pancakes but failed miserably which we found amusing. The pancake would miss the pan by a few inches and would fall on the floor. I walked up to Aaron and shoved him towards Cassie and started making another batch of pancakes. After 5 minutes I placed two plates in front a hungry Cassie and Aaron. I stacked some more onto 2 plates and put the rest of the pancakes in the fridge for anyone who was hungry. Aaron looked at me skeptically.

“Who’s the extra plate for?”

“Jay,” I replied as I picked up both plates and walked over to his office. The door was slightly jarred so I opened it. Jay sat behind his desk, on his laptop, typing furiously. He stopped and looked at me. I think that was the first time he had looked at me without turning away. I closed the door with the back of my foot and walked towards his desk.

“What are you doing here?” He asked as I came closer. He shut his laptop as I approached the desk and placed the plate of pancakes in front of him.

“I made breakfast,” I told him and sat down on the chair in front of his desk and started to eat. I noticed that he had also started to eat. The room was filled with tension. Unwanted tension. I kept looking at him through my eyelashes and noticed that he was doing the same. We didn’t know how to act around each other.

“So are you going to talk or just eat in silence?”  I asked as I broke the silence.

“What’s there to talk about?” he asked staring at his plate.
