Chapter 16

Lexi POV

How can someone be so caring one moment and then be a complete dick the next? Once Jay has walked away, Rose had come down the stairs in a rush. She came up to me and started waving her hand in my face. I blinked a couple of times before seeing a clear Rose in my direct line of vision.

“What the hell is going on here?” Rose asked as she took my hand and dragged me up the stairs, into her room. She pushed me down on her bed and sat down next to me. She combed her hair with her hands and faced me

“What did my brother say to you?”

“He just told when my dad was behind the hunters provoking the territory, not to come to him cry” I said laughing like a maniac “oh and he said not to him without respect or I will regret it”

“That jerk. I get that he has a million things going on his life right now, but he doesn’t have to take out his anger out on you.” She said as she clasped our hands together and gave it a tight squeeze.

“It’s alright. He’s the alpha of this pack, your brother, step son to Macy, my mate and a million other things”

“That still isn’t a reason why he treats you like shit” she said as she walked towards her closet and started fiddling with her dresses

“Hey what were you talking about this morning before Jay interrupted?

Rose POV

My body stilled and i grasped the dress i was holding tightly. I didn’t say anything. What was i supposed to say? That he was my enemy. That he might be killing us all in a matter of time. I turned around and looked at Lexi. She was beautiful. Like a goddess. She had a small smile on her face. Jay was affecting her in so many ways. Alexis had been on a trip with Macy to calm herself down. Whatever that means. My heart starting thumping really fast and i tried to calm myself down, but tears started welling up and i just couldn’t stop it. Oh god. I don’t cry. I stopped crying after Stefan was killed. I just shut my heart down. Why couldn’t the moon goddess just leave me alone and let me live the life i have now.  

“You need to tell me what’s going on Rose. I can’t help you if you won’t tell me what going on” Lexi said staring into my eyes and not moving off the bed to comfort me.

“You can’t help either way. There is nothing you can do”

“You don’t know that unless you try” she retorted

“Lexi”

“Rose” she said clearly getting pissed off “JUST TELL ME GOD DAMMIT”

“HE’S A HUNTER. IS THAT YOU WANT TO HEAR. MY SO CALLED SECOND CHANCE OF HAVING A MATE IS A FUCKING HUNTER”

“He’s a what?” Lexi asked dumbfounded. Did she just lose her hearing two seconds ago?

“A hunter. Do you want a dictionary? There’s one downstairs”

“Who he is exactly to the hunters?” Lexi asked cautiously

“He’s the leader of the group” i said quietly

“How do you know he’s the leader of the group and even your mate. How the hell did you guys even meet under Jay’s over protectiveness?”

~Flashback~

I had slipped out the door before anyone could hear or see me. Jay would still be in bed with Lexi and the rest of pack should be and hopefully still sleeping. I haven’t shifted in weeks and it’s feels like I’ve lost my wolf completely.
