Chapter 35

Jay's POV

It's been 5 hours. 5 hours since Lexi collapsed. 5 hours since she was admitted into hospital. 5 hours of no news. 5 hours of absolute hell.

Rose, Lilly, Cassie, Aaron, Aiden sat down on the chairs behind me. Jack and Macy, Marlisa and Freddie and Steve and Alana stood behind us, talking amongst themselves. I closed my eyes and prayed to God that she was going to be okay.

What happened?

Why did it happened?

I lifted my head towards Richard who came out through the sliding doors. I stood up immediately and went towards him. He shook his head and I immediately stopped.

"What's going on, doc?" I said standing a foot away from him. He had a worried expression on his face.

"Jay" he bowed out of respect.

"Richard, just tell me what's going on? Can I see her? Is everything okay with the baby?"

"Look, okay she's came out of surgery. We bringing her to a room now"

"Surgery? For what?"

"The reason she collapsed was because her placenta was in the wrong position and it caused Lexi pain"

"But she's okay?" I clasped my hand together. This is what I needed.

"She's okay, for now, but the next 48 hours are crutal"

"Why are they crutal? I thought she was okay"

"They are crutal because anything could happen to her. So we are monitering her very closely"

"I must go tell evryone in the waiting room that's she is okay" I said walking away.

"Jay" Richard called out. I walked back over to him

"Before you do that. I think it time you met your daugther"

"She's here?" I said dumbfounded and in disbelief. Richard chuckled and nodded.

"During the surgrey, we had to perform a c-section. I know she's a week early, but she a fighter, just like her parents" I followed Richard towards the materity ward and he stopped directly in front of a huge as window. I watched as nurses croward around each other. When they all moved away, I gasped sliently.

"She's beautiful, isn't she?" I couldn't trust my mouth, so I nodded. "Would you like to meet her?" I nodded again as foloowed Richard into the room. The nurses bowed as they hurried out of the room. I took a caution step towards the little cubicle.

"Go to her. She can sense that you're here" I took more steps until I reached the little cubicle. I feel tears welling up my eyes as I watched my daugther try and reach for me.

"How do -" I struggled with forming words, afraid that the tears will fall.

"Hold her?" I nodded still looking at her "Don't worry. All new dads are afraid that there big hands are going there child. All you have to is gently slide your hand underneath her and bring her towards your chest. While craddling her, use your other hand to hold her bottom"

I did what he said. He looked at me and grinned. "Very nicely done. Do you have a name for her?"

I nodded, kissing the top of my daugther's head.

I kissed Lexi shoulder as I placed my hands on her rounded belly.
