7 years later

"Char, baby girl, get a move on. Your mom's waiting. You know you don't like your mum waiting for you" I bellowed from the bottom of stairs. A trampede of footsteps echoed on the wooden stairs as she came down the stairs.

Charlotte, now 7, looks exactly like her mother. Same hair. Same eyes. Same everything. She had long eyelashes which all the girl were jealous about. When she reached me, she did a little twirl, showing me her princess outfit, she has chosen.

"Daddy, what do you think? Do you mummy will like it?" She said, flickering her blue eyes at me.

I crouched down, so I was level with her. "Charlotte, your mother will like whatever you wear, you know that"

"I know daddy" she said sweetly "let's go daddy. Everyone is probably waiting for us"

My daugther was right. They were waiting for us. Rose was in Tyler's arms. Tyler was holding his daugther, Belle in his arm. Steve and Alana were also waiting with their son, Jack. Cassie and Aaron were laying down on the grass. Aaron wrapping his arms around her growing stomach. Charlotte let go of my hand and started running toward Rose. She gave her a big hug. When I reached Rose, I gave a kiss on the check.

"Charlotte, let go say hi to your mum" Rose said as she grabbed my daughters hand and guided her towards her mother. I watched as Charlotte let go of her aunt's hand and fully sprint toward her mother. Tyler came up to me, with Belle trying to wriggle out of his hold, so she could come and say hello to me.

"Hello uncle Jay" Belle said as she gave me a sloppy kiss on the cheek.

"Hi little Belle" I said as I return the gesture with a kiss on the forehead. I looked at Tyler and burst into laughter.

"What is so funny?"

"Never thought I would see you married or have a child. Especially with my sister" I said as I look at Charlotte who talking to Lexi and giving her a twirl of her dress.

"Sometime we can never know what lies in the furture"

"Well said, brother, well said" I said before walking up towards Charlotte and Lexi. I crouch down so I level with Charlotte height. "Princess, can I speak with your mother for a moment. I'm pretty sure that Aunty Rose brought some pancakes along."

"With strawberries? "

I nodded

"And with whip cream?"

I nodded again and watched as she sprinted towards Rose and the group. I turned around and looked at Lexi.

"Hey kitten".

And as alway the marble headstone doesn't reply.

And my heart breaks

Lexi died a day later from excessive bleeding. It a rare thing apparently. I remember the first night I took Charlotte home and all I wanted was for Lexi to be there. Charlotte didn't grow up with a single father. She grew up with aunts, uncles, cousins and everything. But no one replaced her mother.

"She turned 7 yesterday. Each day that goes passed, she reminds me more and more of you". I looked around and saw the families playing at the park across the cemetery. They looked so happy. "You know I still feel you here. Like your still here right here. God I miss you baby. Not a day goes by that I don't think about you. There are some days where I just reach out in bed and want to grab you into my chest and sqeezue the heck out of you."

"Char is so proud of you. I tell her stories about you and me. All the good and bad. She sometimes yells at me and tells me that I should off just kissed the hell out of you, instead of letting you walk away. I know you're up there, watching down on me and Char and smiling at the crazy times we have had. It's not the same. It never will be. I love you, kitten. I'll talk to you next week"

And I turned around. My heart breaking all over again.
