Chapter 23

Lexi POV

We scattered around the forest, covering more area than we did by ourselves. The wolves on their paws and the hunters aiming bow and arrows in every direction in the sign of danger. Unlike yesterday, more people joined us from other packs. Somehow they had heard that the famous leader of the Blood Rose Pack sister was kidnapped and wanted to help. I guess they wanted to bonus points in case they found them. I watched from behind as a wolf had a hunter to help and protect them. Some of the pack members were vary of getting help from their sworn enemy, but Jay had convince them that in order to get Rose and Tyler back we needed all the help we could get.

“Found something, Alpha” one of the wolves said he came running in the opposite direction and beckoned his head to where we were.

“Lexi, Samuel, Aiden and Jackson come with me. The rest of you keep looking” Jay said to us through mind link. The rest of the wolves and hunters kept pursuing forward, while Samuel, Aiden, Jackson and I went towards Jay and the other wolf. We ran down another clearing and stopped when we reached the border line. We shifted back behind trees and emerged in our human form. I looked around the surrounding and looked at Jay.

“What is this, I’ve never been here before?” I asked Jay. He shook his head confusion. He looked at Jackson and Samuel.

“I’ve been all around the territory since I was a little boy and I’ve never been here. Do you know what this?” Jay asked, looking at the two hunters, hoping for answers. The two men shook there head.

“The reason why you have never seen this land before is because it didn’t belong to us until very recently” Jack said as he and Logan emerged from the bushes around us. They walked past us and shook hands with Samuel and Jackson who looked at us like who are these people.” Oh right, we belong to her old pack. I’m her father and alpha of the pack. This is Logan. He is a pretty bad person. Technically we are both pretty bad people, just trying to fix up the mistakes we have done in the past.”

Jay and I coughed simultaneously and kept walking. I could imagine Samuel and Jackson looking at each other weirdly. Up ahead, laid a pink cardigan hanging on a tree branch. We all ran towards it and stopped immediately when we saw what we say.

Candles in various sizes were dandling on tree and in the middle of all that laid a picnic basket. I watched as Jackson and Samuel looked at each other astounded.

“I didn’t know boss could be romantic” Jackson sniggered as he elbowed Samuel in the ribs. I looked at Jay who was still assessing the scene in front of him. I walked in front him and dragged my knuckles across his cheek. His eyes gazed over to me.

“We are going to find both, okay” I smiled softly as I brought our lips together. “Maybe after all this, you can take me out on a real date”

“You guys haven’t been on a real date and what hasn’t it been like months since you guys have been together” Samuel said as he opened the picnic basket and started emptying the contents. Wine, strawberries, melted chocolate and various other items “You know what you guys can have your date right now. None of the food has been touched. Not even the wine which I brought”

“Wait so that means, they were either taken before the date started or while they were coming here.” Logan said. I watched as Sam picked up a piece of paper and held it between his fingers.

“It was at the bottom of the basket” he said as he opened the piece of paper. “It’s a note to Rose from Ty. All it says is lupacchiotto with an infinity next to it”

What does lupa-“Logan asked from behind us.

“It mean little wolf” I said not turning around. I looked at the trees and noticed some of them had claw marks. “At least they defended themselves”

“We will follow the direction of the claw marks and then the broken branches on the trees like that” We followed Jay lead and took several direction of the trees and bark. We stopped when we realised that we were going in the same direction as the rest of the pack. We waited until they all joined us and then we continued our search. After a few hours, darkness fall, but Jay insisted that we keep going.

“I can sense something behind this tree” he said as he began running towards the tree. Everybody followed suit and stopped when we reached a small hut on the outskirt of the boarder. The pack waited outside until Jay came out of the hut.

“What is in there? Were they in there?” I asked him as I stepped towards him.

“They were in there but now they are gone. I say it must have been at least in the last couple of hours to say that the least. There was blood on the floor. They had been chained up.”

“Who’s blood?”

 “I don’t know. I can’t get a scent out of it, but there was this” Jay said as he gave me piece of paper. I took it and opened it

“Lexi, it’s been a while hasn’t it. If you want to see your future sister in law and her mate ever again, you will follow these instruction. There is an ancient artefact in your mate pack house which I desire. You will bring that into town at 4:00pm to the local diner. I’ll be seeing you soon, darling”
