I woke up and my heart was already in overdrive. I heard a crash and jolted up in my bed. My first thought was to get my guard, before I could step out of bed.

I heard Calvin's familiar voice outside. I walked to my window just as he and the night shift guard, Kevin entered. Kevin pulled me away from the window as Calvin went to inspect the window. Just as another guard began to escort me to, in his words 'a safe location.'

I couldnt feel safe though, every part of  me had already begun to freak out, they left me in a room alone and locked the door.

I was hyperventilating after 5 minutes.

My door opened and I saw my mom. I ran up to her and hugged her. She calmed me down and led me downstairs.

"Lucky for you Calvin knows some of your friends or I'm afraid we might've killed them." My mom said jokingly with a smile.

I relaxed. It's funny how I never appreciated her. I could never imagine why I'd been so spoilt before.

I guess since I couldn't take life for granted anymore I had to appreciate it all, and the fact that most of what my head remembered was actually about Maya... my biological mother. Who I'm going to meet-
Or rather who I'm going to see after she gave me up for the first time in a matter of hours.

The safe location is actually my biological mother's house, they figure it's so obvious that it's unexpected in a way. According to my memories even before the kidnapping I was the bitchy stuck up cheerleader type. Not as loaded but very much the same...
All I know is my mom hated my friends and I thought we were stuck up and fake...granted I was more inclined to my father, now though all I can think of is how she gave me up. He killed himself and I genuinely have no idea what I'm walking into.

As the elevator doors opened my eyes stung from the bright light drawing me to the conclusion that it was later in the day than I'd thought.

I was greeted by the sight of a dripping wet Joe and Rebecca.

I tried to cover my mouth but it didn't help as my laugh was still more than obvious.

"Yeah yeah we love you too." Rebecca said playfully just as Joe snuck up behind me and engulfed me in his arms causing me to shriek from the shocking feel of the cold water.

My mom and the guards left the room.

I'd honestly thought my mom was going to wake me up at the crack of dawn and ship me off to Maya. This was all a lot more relaxed than I'd initially thought.
I turned around, Joe's arms still wrapped around me and gave him a real hug. The cold didn't feel so bad anymore.

I let go and started boiling water and making two cups of hot chocolate.
"So please explain how you idiots got yourself into this mess."

"Joe! It is all his fault."

"What! You followed my dumb plan blindly.!"

Rebecca groaned
"That is unfortunately true. What could we do we were worried about you. You didn't pitch to school and didn't reply to a single text. No insta, snaps, no calls. Just nothing."

I had no idea. I guess I crashed harder than I'd thought.

I handed them their hot drinks as I checked the time on the clock.
"So you just bunked school at noon and swam through the moat around my house, somehow found my room and attempted to break my window."

They burst into a fit of laughs. I gave them a shocked look and they straightened up.

"Okay in our defence. Your house looked scary as shit all of a sudden. Heavily guarded and shit. Dude we saw the mailman, they wouldn't even let him put the mail in your mailbox, something about it being too close to the house. Rebecca was scared so we took the funner route."
