Smugness

(Y/n):AHHHHHHHH!

You screamed as you ran across the field, occasionally tripping due to the large vibrations just behind you. You looked behind you to see a giant blue frog hoping after you all smug like. Stupid frogs. You heard a wheeze and looked down. Tucked under your arm was Megumin who just waved back and forth as you tried to escape the smug amphibian. She taught you magic, yep she sure did. For one glorious moment she wielded explosion magic, the vibrant colors colliding with cold dark ones illuminated her porcelain skin, giving her an angelic glow. You watched her yell out one word that would be imprinted on your mind.

(Y/n):Explosion.

You mumbled the word under your breath as you thought back to the beautiful moment. She finished the speed leaving a smoking crater in the ground. She turned to you and smiled softly, a bright flash of excitement showing in her crimson eye. You smiled back until you slowly deadpanned as she fell face first into the grass. You puffed out both of your cheeks and looked down at her with a look of seriousness. You didn't have long as something pounced behind. You turned around and stared into the white underbelly of a frog. You looked up as the frog chomped down onto you. You looked down the frog punching your fists into its tongue as you planted you feet on its chin and pushed managing just barely to escape its smelly frog mouth. You quickly wiped off the slime on your face and turned on your heel picking up the small body of Megumin tucking it under your arm as you ran. You moment was interrupted as you snapped out of your flashback as you ran into Kazuma.

Kazuma:(Y/n).

(Y/n):Yes?

Kazuma:Drop her.

You set Megumin on the ground and stood up. Kazuma looked at you for a moment before gripping your shoulders panicking.

Kazuma:Please do something useful! Do anything!

(Y/n):I'm useful! If anything your useless!

Kazuma:Just stop the frog about to eat Megumin!

(Y/n):You do it!

The shaking ground signaled your attempted predator had caught up. You turned pulling your staff out and entering attack position. You watched as it ate Megumin only leaving her legs out of its mouth. You breathed in deeply, feeling rage boil inside. How dare this smug amphibian swallow your master?! You raised your staff and proclaimed.

(Y/n):Freeze ray!

The crystal flashed blue before a burst of ice shot from your staff. It hit the frog in the chest and you saw the frog slowly begin to freeze until it was in a coat of ice. You smiled widely before jumping the air.

(Y/n):I think I did it.

You couldn't be too safe considering last time you celebrated.

Kazuma:Good job! Now how are you gonna get Megumin out of the ice?

You turned to Kazuma and a sniffling slimy Aqua.

(Y/n):Gosh darn it!

You set down your backpack and took your staff slowly climbing the block of ice. When you reached the top you began to hit the ice with your staff until the ice broke.

Several hours of Ice picking later.

You carried a slimy, shaking, and tired Megumin on your back. You walked behind Kazuma and Aqua as you walked back into town.

Kazuma:(Y/n) I don't think things are working with Megumin.

Megumin:What?!

Megumin jumped off your back and jumped onto Kazuma. You watched her beg and plead to stay on the team to the point she pretended to do........ Inappropriate things with the slime and frogs. You knew Kazuma would cave eventually so you walked to the guild and set your stuff down at a table. You walked into the male showers and peeled off your slimy clothing. Yeah that's a big negative on wearing those again. You hosed off the slime and sweat from mining ice in the middle of spring or summer or whatever it is in this weird world. You finished off by dumping water on top of yourself. With a towel clinging to your waist you tried to figure out what  you would do for cloths.
