Cool Heat

You stare at Yugyeom's hand before placing your smaller one is his larger one.

His face never changes, the furrow between his brows holding firm. The other members come back to the table and you feel them watching. Realising you've been sitting there for a few moments, you rise and, even in your heels, you barely come up to Yugyeom's chin.

No Vacancy plays over the speakers and the lights flash purple, pink the purple again.

Yugyeom's hand close around yours and you shiver.

He gently pulls you from the cordoned off VIP area and through the balcony. You don't stop to look back at the others. Down the stairs but instead of turning to the dance floor, he pulls you down a corridor, through a fire exit and you find yourself in an alley, surrounded by bins.

"Yugyeom, what-" You start to turn to him but find yourself enclosed against the cold brick wall by his arms. The chill of the surface creates a nice contrast to your heated skin but you can't see Yugyeom's face, hidden by shadows.

You don't have the strength in you to move and if you admit it to yourself, you don't want to.

This past week something major has changed in your relationship with Yugyeom, be it for better or for worse. You cared about Yugyeom so much it hurt and he made your blood sing but was it really worth risking going further when it could end badly and ruin your friendship? And then there was Jackson...

Yugyeom pulls you from your thoughts as he looks up and you don't see, rather feel his eyes lock with yours. Your core tightens and a flush heats your cheeks. What is happening to you?

"I'm sorry... I just- shit." You wait for Yugyeom to find his words, knowing that was what he would have wanted. When he was ready to speak again, you braced yourself for his words. "I don't know what's happened but I..."

One of your hands reaches up and cups his cheek. "What if it goes wrong?"

He doesn't need to ask what you're talking about.

Pushing his face into your palm, you marvel at the smoothness of his skin, something you've never really noticed before.

"But what if it goes right?"

Your breath catches in your cheek at his words.

You need to make a decision now.

Inside, you're tired of feeling alone. You want this confusion to stop and you know Yugyeom will be there for you.

Suddenly, an intense need for physical contact overcomes you and you have to bite down on your lip, the action drawing Yugyeom's eyes. That makes you even hotter, his eyes on your lips.

You and Yugyeom have always been good at talking without words; you've had a connection since you were young. An unspoken agreement passes between the two of you and before you know it, the last thing you see before you close your eyes is Yugyeom's head moving closer to yours.

The moment your lips meet, you feel a sense of belonging, one you've never felt before except in Yugyeom's presence. The way his lips move against yours is familiar yet and new discovery. Your hands tangle in his hair and and his hands cup the back of your neck, caressing your hairline, sending shiver down your spine.

But throughout all this, you can't help but compare the kiss to Jackson's. Both compare yet they don't. Both are completely different. Like the boys themselves.

You need more.

Your mouth opens and Yugyeom deepens the kiss, his tongue sweeping your lips. You take your time.

But Yugyeom pulls away, placing his forehead against yours. You're both breathing heavily and your breaths tangle gorgeously. You can still taste the mint of his gum on your lips and you savour it.

"That was one hell of a dance." Yugyeom jokes, your hands still in his hair and you smile.

You barely feel the cool wall behind you, your body is so heated.

"Still friends?" He asks cheekily.

"Alright alright, you've made your point." Laughingly, you reply and he pulls you into his chest, wrapping his arms around your back. Resting his chin atop your head, you hear him sigh.

"What are you thinking?" You ask. The two of you did this when you were younger. You wanted to know each others every thought.

He takes a moment before replying. "I've wanted this for such a long time. It feels unreal having you in my arms."

Pulling back, you look deeply into his eyes. "Seriously?"

"Yes. You are completely oblivious to how I feel about you. The other tease me about it constantly." He stops and lets out a laugh. "I remember that first date you had with Jimin. I wanted to rip his hand off you. Knowing he would be your first kiss and first date killed me. Even at thirteen, I knew I was in love with you."

A stab of guilt hits you as you think that Jimin wasn't your first kiss. Jackson was.

"Oh," is all you can say, causing Yugyeom to chuckle.

"Lets go inside. I still want that dance."

"But you know i'm a terrible dancer!" You protest as he pulls you back towards the door into the club.

Before pulling the door open he looks back at you and winks. "Thats's why it's so fun."

Several dances later with various members of the group, you are exhausted and collapse into a chair at your table. Yugyeom is at the bar, getting you a drink and the others are tearing it up on the dance floor. You never thought you see the day that Jinyoung did the robot and Youngjae's moonwalk will always stay with you. You've never laughed so much.

Yugyeom walks back to the table carrying your drinks at exactly the same moment Jackson reaches the top of the stairs. You can't help but stare.

Both head over to you.

Flopping down beside you, Yugyeom hands you your drink. "Jackson-hyung take a seat." He says, gesturing to the many empty chairs.

But Jackson just shakes his head and looks at you. You study his movement with precision, watching the way his throat moves. Your eyes meet.

"I think that it's unfair that you've danced with everyone else and not me." Jackson smiles at you and you're about to reply when Mark approaches behind him.

"Time to go guys."

The other guys are following him and pick up their various jackets, Yugyeom included. But Jackson stands there, disappointment lining his features as he looks at you.

You can't say that you don't feel the same way. Despite the revelations with Yugyeom, the idea of being close to Jackson again, sends your heart beating a million miles a minute.

Shame fills your stomach and you almost feel sick.

You watch as Jackson turns away, wishing you could reach out to him.

But he's never felt so far away.
