Song of the chapter: Behind These Hazel Eyes by Kelly Clarkson
2 months before
Dear Diary,
It's 11pm and I can't sleep. My mind is blowing up with too many unwanted thoughts in the dark of the night. As much as I want to close my eyes and drift away into the land of sleep, I'm afraid the voices will come back and bite me in the back. They tell me that I'm useless and not good enough just like the kids at school.
Today I was re-reading The Last Song in my usual spot by the old oak tree when Dali and her friends decided to throw some insults in my face. "Look girls, it's the nerd who sent nudes to Oliver." I had never felt so ashamed of myself in my whole life. I admit I was a fool for giving into pressure like that let alone show the entire popular crowd.
It only took a few days for the whole school to find out and that's when I was labelled as a whore. That's when I lost all my friends, including Calum. I've not only lost respect from others but respect for myself. I kind of talk to Calum but it’s just not the same. He's started to hang out with Oliver and his crowd instead of me and it hurts every time he ignores me in the halls.
I got home from school and that's when it all started again. "You're fucking late again." My mum's boyfriend, Mitchell yelled at me. Mum has been on and off dating him since dad died. I don't blame her for wanting to find new love but it was just way too soon in my opinion. And he's an absolute fuckwit. He slapped me across the cheek which was like our way of saying hello. But today I deserved it for what I had done. He smelt of fresh alcohol and he had a joint in his other hand.Later on after dinner, Gracie was complaining about losing her blankie that she can't sleep without. Mitchell isn't quite fond of children and hates whining. So when Gracie was nagging him about her blankie he reached for the longest belt he could find and whipped her like a pig. She yelled and screamed her poor lungs out. But out of all of us, Mum gets it the worst.
She’s not allowed to go out and see her friends from The Club or her family. The only time she can leave home is when she's going to work or doing chores. No socialising or contact with anyone. If she happens to bump into someone, she gets continuous beatings along with a stern "How many fucking times do I have to tell you not to talk to anyone, you bitch."
Gracie sleeps with me every night in my bed. Her room is across the hall but she started getting nightmares. She doesn't deserve any of this and the fact that she knows what's going on scares me. It scares me that she's going to be too mature for her age. Too serious and lost in her own thoughts like her older sister. Me.
10 minutes later...
It's 10 past 11 and I can hear Mitchell shouting at mum. "Where's my weed?! Where did you fucking hide it?" He's always been a drunk but marijuana has only just came into his eyes. "I don't know! I swear I don't." My mother’s weak voice pleads. "Please don't hurt me again. Please Mitch." I hear something smash violently onto the tiled floor and a cry for help. I want to run down there and save my mother but I am completely helpless.
40 minutes later…
"111, what is your emergency?"
Author's note: To current readers, I am sorry I've only just written it but felt like it was needed. To new readers: Hello and welcome to the first book of Diana: 4 months in the UK. I am hoping you'll be just as indulged in the series as I am. This story might contain smut, violence and coarse language so for mature readers only! Comment your thoughts and some helpful tips! Love you fab potatoes. -A
*This book is highly recommended for Directioners and the 5SOSfam but is most certainly welcome to any outside fans! NOTE: This is written before the 1D boys audition for X Factor and before Luke starts his covers. And also, theoretically the 5SOS boys are around 14-16 but bear with me as I picture them more of 16-18 even though it is false in real life. Remember this is fiction! Enjoy.*
