This isn't edited at all, so feel free to point out any mistakes and give me criticsm on anything. And it would be awesome if you could tell me what you think of the chapter, because I know it porbably sucks, but it's getting there... And no Cassandra, the popcorn scene isn't there, it should be in the next chapter though.
Chapter 10: Who Needs Therapy When You Can Knock Yourself Into A Coma?
“How’s the truck coming along?” Dad asked as I walked through into the kitchen.
I had been spending all afternoon on it, and my Dad knew because I texted him. He was mad that I got the truck impounded, but also relieved because he hated that truck with a passion. He also told me numerous times to thank Ray profusely for getting me a new truck, one that he wouldn’t hate.
“It’s coming along good, but I also have to make time for my other jobs.” I shrugged as I rummaged through the fridge for something to eat.
“I scored some lasagne from a different neighbour today, it’s on the third shelf,” He said as he noticed me in the fridge.
“Sweet, so is it okay if all of my friends come over on Friday for a movie night?” I wonder, is it normal for guys to have a movie night? I know chicks have them all the time, but do guys? Then again, it is a mix of genders, so maybe?
“All of your friends?”
“Well yeah. Ivy, Crystal, Dylan and Roman.” I shrugged again as I took a seat across from him. He had a coffee in his hand which I suspected had whiskey in it (old habits die hard). I’m guessing by the fact that it’s late he had already eaten his share of the lasagne.
“Well, you truly have made friends other than the lovely Ivy.” He grinned at me suggestively.
I quickly swallowed the mouthful I had. “Dad, she’s just a friend.”
“Whatever you say Ryder,” He grinned again as he ruffled my hair, actually ruffled it, as he strolled out of the room looking like the cat that got the cream.
I scowled at his back and continued eating my dinner.
“Good morning,” I said as I walked into the alley, bright and early. My Dad had dropped me off at my work really early so I would have some time working on my truck, then I got Rex to drop me off at school. Nice and early too, I think I might just turn into an early riser yet. Yeah, I don’t think so either.
“What’s the fuck’s so good about it!?” Dylan snapped at me with so much venom a snake would be proud.
I stopped dead in my tracks.
Dylan was looking really pissed off and was guzzling more beer than usual. Roman was staring into space as he beer spilled onto his lap slowly. Crystal was furiously, and I mean furiously, tapping on her phone. And then we have Ivy, she looked like she had been up all night, had been binge drinking, and had then proceeded to take her day’s anger out on herself as she had a swollen left eyebrow that was a blotchy yellow.
“Ivy, what happened to your eyebrow?” I didn’t want to say ‘face’, because if I did it would be worse than poking an angry tiger with a stick. Actually, anyone would prefer to poke an angry tiger with a stick than to provoke an angry looking woman. I’ve had my fair share of dominance issues.
“I hit it on a cupboard as I furiously looked through every stash I could think of. But I had already gone through them all and had gotten rid of my stash. Why didn’t you tell me it would feel like this? I want to rip out my lungs if it would stop the cravings,” She hissed.
