Hey guys, sorry for the late update! I truly am, but I'm trying to sort out all of my reading lists over on InkBlazers so I can still follow the storylines when it shuts down for good. The next update will come in a day or two, and the three after that could be a little iffy because I'm going to be spending time with family and bouncing between three houses so I might not have time to write. Anyway, video to the side will make sense as you move on!
Enjoy, vote and comment as always :) Also, feel free to point out spelling and gramatical errors (except for the AN, I know that these things aren't perfect, there's no spell check when I write these) because I've been getting really sloppy lately with no school and all. But anyway, enjoy reading!
Chapter 23: Waffle Sundays
“So, this is an actual special occasion for you guys,” I stated as I walked through Ivy’s door just before the time we were supposed to be there. 2 and a half minutes to be exact.
“Hell yeah it is! I’m in the kitchen,” Ivy shouted out as I took off my jacket and hung it up. I even took my shoes off for good measure.
I walked to the kitchen, looking at all of the family photos as I did so. “You know, your family seemed so perfect in those photos,” I said as I finally reached the kitchen door.
I grinned as I saw what was waiting in the kitchen. Ivy was wearing a ‘kiss the cook’ apron with her hair slicked back into a ponytail as she was furiously stirring a bowl full of batter. She was concentrating so hard on the mixing that I thought it was going to break under the pressure of her gaze.
“My family always seemed perfect before, so did yours,” She replied a little half-heartedly because she was so busy concentrating.
I nodded along to her until something dawned on me. “How do you know what my family was like? We only have one family photo, and I looked like a dork in it,” I asked suspiciously.
She smiled into the batter. “In my opinion you looked adorable, and your Dad showed me an album of a whole bunch of photos. Relax, only I was shown them,” She looked up at me with a glint in her eyes. Immediately I knew that she was going to use this as blackmail later.
I shook my head at her and sighed, earning a giggle from her. Then I noticed that she had a smudge of flour on her cheek.
“Hey, you have flour on your cheek,” I pointed out as I came closer to her.
“You’re just saying that,” Ivy replied, thinking that I was teasing her.
“No, I’m serious,” I said, going to wipe it off her cheek.
She quickly ducked under my arm and put the batter on the bench. “Oh no you don’t,” She stated as she threw a handful of flour at me.
I gave her an incredulous look, but it obviously didn’t do much as she laughed at me. My face was now covered in flour after all. I grinned at her before I threw my own handful at her. This was war.
She gave me wide eyes before we broke out into a flour fight.
“You are so gonna get it!” I yelled out as I chased her around the kitchen, us throwing various handfuls of flour at each other.
“We’re here!” I heard Dylan announce as the three of them finally arrived, two minutes after they were supposed to.
Ivy and I carried on having a flour war as the others stopped mid-sentence at the doorway to watch us, jaws scattered on the floor.
“Well, they’re definitely cleaning the kitchen themselves,” Dylan said as he eyed how much flour was around the kitchen.
“You still have waffles though right?” Crystal asked hopefully as we slowly stopped.
