anyways i hope you enjoy this chapter and that you're having a good week!

Foster the People were blaring from the stereo speakers (courtesy of me and Porter fumbling with the switches until sound bursted out of them) and the sun was setting as we all went out to the beach. The sand was hot against my feet and I ran as fast as I could to the water, the lapping waves feeling cool against my heels and giving me relief. I felt a splash against my legs and I squeaked, flipping around to see a grinning Porter with his jeans rolled up to his knees.

"Hey, you."

"Hey." I said, pressing my hand against the top of the water, feeling it slip through my fingers. "It feels amazing to be here. Also slightly nostalgic. I haven't been to the beach in like two years."

"Really?" He looked to me with surprise. "I used to go to the beach every summer as a kid. We spent practically all of June in a beach house down in Ocracoke."

"Oh yeah," I said. "I spent my entire childhood in Chesapeake so I grew up on the beach. But in New York the beaches aren't really the same. This is a lot cleaner than Coney Island."

He nodded, then looked back toward the sand where Anton and Tess were giggling and writing something in the sand, and Dillon and Hugo were laughing with beers in their hand. Best Friend was playing, one of my favorite songs by Foster the People.

"Dance with me." I grinned, grabbing him by the arm and twirling him around to the beat.

He tilted, attempting to catch his balance by grabbing my arm and latching onto it. "Porter!" I shrieked as he pulled me down into the water. My body hit it with a splash, soaking my shirt and my shorts. "You dickwad."

He grinned, chuckling. "Sorry. You were asking for it."

I gaped. "I was not! You're a liar."

He reached his hands down into the water, and the next thing I knew, he was splashing me. "Ahh!" I spat the salty water out of my mouth, and rubbed my eyes. "Oh, its on now." I splashed him back, trying my hardest to get him soaking wet like he got me.

He grinned, his wet hair hanging over his eyes and dripping down his cheeks. The image made my heart melt and I looked away, a smile crossing my features. "I don't know about you, but I'm starved." Porter said, interrupting me from my thoughts. He was suddenly beside me, as I looked down into the chilly ocean waters that were calm beneath me, lapping against my thighs covered in goosebumps.

"Yeah," I nodded, suddenly freezing. "Let's go inside."

Dillon surprised us all by cooking burgers for us (who knew he could cook?) and then I headed upstairs to shower. As soon as I got in the room, I realized that Porter and I were both sharing a bathroom. And he needed to use the shower too.

"Its okay, go ahead," he said, smiling. "I know girls take way longer than guys when it comes to showers. I can totally wait."

I could hint the teasing in his voice, but I decided to ignore it. "Where are the towels at?"

"Let me go get one for you." He said, standing up from his position on the bed. I walked into the bathroom and let my hair out of its ponytail, feeling the brown curls hit my shoulders. After looking at my reflection in the mirror, I realized that I had a giant zit beside my nose. Lovely. Maybe they had some sort of face cleanser here? The place was pretty well stocked so I wouldn't be surprised.
