Chapter sixteen

Me: LETS START!

"How much longerrrr!?" Natsu, who was sitting on the floor, complains.
"It's only been two minutes!" Mel exclaims as she anxiously watches the hole in the ceiling. We hadn't left the area where Lucas took off so I sat on the fence, staring at the wall. It was a very dark wall, and if I squinted I could almost make out patterns on it.
"Luce?" Natsu asks. I turn my head to look at him. There's something serious in his eyes. "Can we talk?"
"About what?" I ask.
"Us." He says again. I sigh.
"Natsu..." I reply. "Now's not the best time." He turns his head away.
"What more do I have to do?" He asks, almost seeming angry.
"Huh?" I hum in a questioning tone.
"I don't get it Luce..." he says. "I've shown that I was sorry, it was proven to not be my fault, it's obvious you still have feelings for me, so what more do I have to do to get you back?"
"Uh...ooh! Look a cloud!" Mel says trying to change the subject.
"Natsu, this isn't a good time to be talking about this." I half yell. "Once we are out and everything is sorted then we can discuss this. But until then, I refuse to talk about this further."
"No, I want to talk about it now!" Natsu says standing up.
"Guys! Would you shut up!" Mel yells. "I get, you love her, you love him, why won't you just get together!? It's so frustrating!! I know! But some of us here would like to remain sane, and having you two bickering like children with two bodies below, waiting for someone to help us, is not helping!"
"Sorry Mel..." we both apologise.
"Look, I'm sorry for yelling." Mel says after sighing. "But I'm with Lucy on this one, just wait until we get out of here and a more...likeable...situation arises."
"Fine." Natsu says, folding his arms.

"The weird noises eagle is telling us to go this way!" Juvia's voice says after a while.
"Follow that bird!" I hear Erza say.
"Why are we following a bird?" Gray says. After a few seconds Lucas flies back in and lands on Mel's shoulder. The three faces poke through the hole.
"What happened to you?" Erza asks.
"Just get us out of here...we'll explain everything later." Mel says.
"Let's find a rope! Then we can pull them up." Juvia suggests.
"Good idea." Gray says.
"Gray-Sama agrees with Juvia!" Juvia exclaims. I thought she'd gotten over that...

Pretty soon a rope was tossed down. We all carefully jumped onto the rope and we were pulled up and out.
"Why are you two wrapped in blankets?" Erza asks.
"It's a long story..." I start and explain what happened.
"And you have no idea who this guy is?" Gray asks.
"None." I reply.
"Wait, where's Lucas?" Erza asks.
"He's the bird." Mel explains. "Apparently he's having trouble turning back, but he'll get there eventually...I hope...."
"Let's get you all somewhere safe." Juvia says and leads us to the edge of the building. There was a rope ladder hanging off the edge. It was difficult trying to get down but we all made it.
"Erza's car is just up ahead." Gray says. "I think it best we keep you in sight... we don't know when he could strike again." Lucas howls in agreement.

We were taken to Erza's house. Mel and I were escorted to her room with Juvia while Gray stayed with Natsu and Lucas.
"Let's get you some clothes." Erza says and almost dives into her wardrobe, later pulling out a light blue, lone dress and an oversized grey hoodie. Mel takes the hoodie and puts it on before any of us can object.
"Juvia thinks we should report it to the police." Juvia says.
"What for?" Mel asks. "They didn't do anything last time, why would they do something now?"
"You think the guy who attacked you has them on his side?" Erza asks.
"More than likely." Mel says. "That would explains why Layla and Jude's death was never looked into, and why our kidnapping was never investigated."
"I don't understand!" I scream as I bury my head in my knees.
"Lucy?" They all exclaim.
"I don't get it." I say with tears rolling down my face. "I've never purposely hurt anyone! So why is he coming after me and hurting everyone I care about!?"
"It's because he wants you..." Mel says.
"But why me?" I say again. The girls all look at each other and a dreading silence filled the air.

After a while I slip on the blue dress and descend down the stairs. I pass the boys in Erza's living room. Lucas is standing on the table, they seem to reading from some kind of book and telling Lucas to perform certain actions. I step out of the back door and a gush of wind attacks my face, flowing my hair backwards. I move across the porch and sit down on the nearby bench, staring out towards the sunset sky. I close my eyes and let my mind wander. I wonder how Michelle and Plue are doing? I haven't heard from them in a while. It's probably best I don't contact them though... a tear rolls down my cheek. That man has taken my parents, my sister, my dog and Natsu away from me. How much longer until he takes everything else?
