A strange smell enters my nose.
"Smoke?" I ask to no one. I turn to where it's coming from and see black smoke rising into the air. "guys..?" Everyone looks at the smoke.
"Could just be a normal, everyday fire." Gajeel says.
"In a part of town where no one has gone in years...?" Jellal asks.
"Normal or not, we should go check it out." Gray says and leads the way.

Erza P.O.V

"Juvia isn't sure that that is supposed to happen." Juvia says and I turn to see what she's looking at. Black smoke billows into the air and I sense magic power from it.
"Ladies!" I yell. The girls turn to look at me. "To the smoke!"
"HAI!" they yell and we march like soldiers to the smoke.

Natsu P.O.V

All I see is the smoke and I'm running. Scales emerge on my arm, causing immense pain, but the rage building inside enables me to ignore it. I turn into an alley just as horns sprout from my head and I lose control.

'Just stick to the shadows' I tell him.
'Fine.' He replies. I watch as He moves my body to the fire through the alleys. being as discreet as possible. We make it to a field and quickly sprint to the smoke. The fire is plainly visible. A mansion beside the old city hall.

'There's magic power connected to the fire.' He says. 'Anyone you know?' He allows me enough control to sense the magic.
'Yes.' I reply. 'This is the spot.'
'Good.' He replies. 'I should warn you, your friends are also on their way, and will get here a few minutes after we arrive. You sure about this?'
'Positive.' I reply.
'Then leave it to me.' He says. He regains control and pulls the hood of my hoodie up. He then carries on running through the field until we reach the front gate. First thing I notice is a body, laying face down on the path.
'Who's that?' I ask Him. He walks to the body and turns it over.
'A friend?' He asks.
'Yes...' I respond.
'She's bleeding heavily.' He states. 'A stab wound to the stomach and a bullet to the back of the neck.'
"Natsu....?" Melody asks quietly.
"Melody...what happened?" I ask.
"He's an utter phsycopath..." She says as she coughs. Blood runs out of her mouth. "Don't...let him live, ya hear?"
"I won't." I reply. "Let me help you."I start to pick her up.
"No." She says as sternly as her voice will allow. I leave her down. "It's a miracle I'm still breathing as it is...stop Liam...he's...he's our priority..."
"NO!" I yell. "I don't leave friends behind!"
"And if you don't do this our friends will die!" She half yells then begins coughing. "Listen to me...Natsu...Liam is planning on merging alternate universes...in order to do so...many people must die...what's one life compared to thousands?" I close my eyes as I find myself reluctantly agreeing with her. I take my hoodie off and place it on her stomach. I then roll her onto her front.
"This will hurt." I say. I let Him take control because I don't have the stomach for this. He moves his fingers inside Melody's neck and fishes the bullet out. Melody grunts against the pain.
"The others will be here soon." He says. "Don't move but try to keep pressure on your stomach."
"Sure thing." She says quietly as He makes me stand up. "One more...thing...It's a maze of corridors...don't get lost...watch out for the self defense system as you walk in...and....give him hell for me..." I nod my head and run into the building.

Grandine drove up her driveway and stopped the car.
"Home sweet home." She says as she pulls the car key out.
"Mmm." I hum in agreement. It felt like years since I've been here. I stepped inside and instantly feel nostalgic. The familiar walls make me expect Wendy to run down the stairs and tackle me in a hug. "Where is Wendy?" I ask Grandine as she walks through the door.
"She's at school." Grandine says as she closes the door. "She'll be home late today though."
"Ok...do you mind if I go to my room?" I ask her.
"Go ahead." She says. "I'll be down here if you need me." I head up the stairs and into my room. I sit down on the bed and feel oddly safe. I pick up my phone and send a text to Ashley.
