Chapter twenty two

Melody p.o.v

With our plan a bust I try to think of a new one. There's no signal so I can't text Lucas. Lucas and I had to break our mate bond in order for our original plan to work, so I can't use that to communicate with him. With that thought in mind I suddenly feel very lonely. I always felt fuzzy and warm when our mate bond was intact, like he was constantly near, but now I felt empty and alone.

Now I worry for Lucy. By now Lucas would have told them everything and they'd be panicking. Lucy would probably be feeling guilty. I have to get out of here.

Lucy P.O.V

My eyes slowly open and the sound of birds chirping fill my ears. A gentle orange-yellow light fills the room and I feel relaxed. The bed I'm laying on is soft and I feel oddly safe here. I sit up and stretch my arms. My eyes fixate on the clock on the wall. 6:00AM? Did I fall asleep? And why am I up so early? I feel my head fall on my hand and my eyes close once more and I drift off once more.

"Lucy!" I hear someone say. "wake up." I open my eyes to see Levy standing there. Suddenly wide awake, I throw my arms around her squealing for delight. 
"I'm so glad you're ok!" I yell as we tumble to the floor.
"Me too, Lu...me too." Levy says as she returns my embrace tightly. "We all need to meet downstairs." I nod my head, suddenly feeling sleepy again, but follow her downstairs.

I sit on the sofa next to Levy and we are soon joined by everyone else. Natsu sheepishly glances at me from across the room but I choose to ignore it. Right now I had other things to worry about. 

Melody P.O.V

As quietly as I can, I make my way to the window and look at the sun. My thoughts drift back to the others. 
"Mornin' dear!" I hear Liam call from behind me. I stifle a growl but ignore him all the same. "How'd you sleep?"
"Just fine." I reply. Maybe if I be intolerable he'll let me go...
"You hungry?" He asks.
"No." I reply coldly. My stomach decides to betray me and grumbles loudly while I sweatdrop. Liam seems to smirk behind my back.
"Breakfast shall be served." He says and his scent leaves the room. I'd rather eat raw bear...seriously they taste disgusting, ever wondered why wolves and bears don't get along?

I leave my room to try to familiarise myself with my surroundings. The house was huge, most of it being identical. The thing that stood out most to me was that it was all corridors with three rooms, my bedroom, a kitchen and Liam's room. Although the corridors were eloquently decorated with paintings and sculptures, I couldn't take my eyes off of the blood red carpet. Knowing him I wouldn't be surprised if-no, let's not think of that. Happy thoughts Mel, happy thoughts. 

I soon find the front door and to escape seems all too easy to acomplish. There's a straight path leading to a road, with Liam at the other side of the house and no other occupants, who could stop me? I'm about to step out until I stop myself. It can't be this easy... I sniff the air and gasp when I recognise the scent. It can't be...!

Lucy P.O.V

"We could put up missing person posters!" Juvia suggests.
"And go 'OI! WE'RE GONNA FIND YOU SOON, BETTER RUN!'?" Lucas replies with emphasis on his impression.
"You got any better ideas Lucas?" Gray asks.
"I wish, he's not the person I once knew..." He replies.
"I guess there's only one thing we can do..." Erza says while standing up. "We'll organise search parties. Levy, Juvia and I will split off into one group. Gajeel, Gray, Lucas and Jellal in another."
"What about me?" Natsu asks. "I've something I'd like to say to that bastard."
"You and Lucy will stay and Grandine's until it is safe." Erza replies.
"WHAT!?" Natsu and I exclaim.
"Liam may still be after Lucy, sending her out could put her in serious danger." Erza explains. "Though I'd rather have her around more protection, if one of our groups does happen to run into him and a fight breaks out, we're going to need a lot of power."
"Then why not have me go out with your group?" I protest.
"Because that would increase our chances of running into him on battle grounds, and now he's got something he wants, I fear he's only getting stronger..." Erza explains. I bow my head in reluctant agreement. "Good, I'll call Grandine to come and pick you up, Natsu, keep her safe."
