The Sad King
Once upon a time...
To the castle of a sad king,
Came a fair haired pixie,
Offering to sing.
Her hair that of corn-silk,
Her eyes sapphire blue,
She was the fairest pixie,
Anyone ever knew.
The king refused her company,
He was well out of sorts.
Wearing nothing but his crown,
And a smelly pair of shorts.
The perfectly, patient, pixie...
Said she'd stay a spell;
In the sincere hope,
The king might soon feel well.
Each day the pixie returned,
And offered to sweetly sing,
And each day the same response,
Was sent down from the king.
Finally the king conceded,
And let the pixie in...
"Let me hear your song.
You've worn me down, you win!"
The pixie gently stepped forward,
And sang her enchanted tune,
And when she turned to leave,
The king bid "Don't leave so soon..."
The pixie smiled and nodded.
"Please sit a spell with me...
Will you stay in my kingdom
And sing some more for me?"
"It would be my deepest pleasure,
To stay here with you.
In song to bring you joy,
And keep you from feeling blue."
Patience won the day,
A song won the heart.
When a friend is feeling low,
Joy is a gift you can impart.
