Beautiful Little Fools

Once upon a time,

There were a boy and a girl,

Living out in ignorant bliss

Whenever they danced in their lacy frills.

They only knew gold and pastels

Because they got no clue

Of what it meant

To feel gray and blue.

They gave no thought

To the ugly truth.

They rather went with the lie

Than to go through life like Ruth.

They paid no attention

To the riots at night.

They rather grabbed the darkness

Than to grasp the burning light.

Like the golden leaves falling

To the icy swimming pools,

They knew nothing about life

Because they were just beautiful little fools.

They would never know tomorrow,

Like the delicate flowers.

Without ever knowing it,

They lived happily ever after.
