|| A Short Story ||

A boy with a black and white coat walks along the salted sidewalk. The salt melts the snow, but it was one of his pet peeves. He loved snow, almost as much as he loved music.

Music was his only escape, other than that of drawing and writing of course. Somehow, all types of artists expressed his feelings in a way that he could not. Poets, artists, musicians, authors, etc. Nobody ever cared enough to ask him about his feelings, but it was like those people spoke to him. They made him feel like he mattered, like everything was going to be alright.

As he is walking, a short girl, about his age, walks past. She sparkles like the snow, glimmers brighter than the sun, and forces his heart to pound. He opens his mouth as if to speak but nothing comes out. He tries to play a song, but she continues walking in a hurry. He wanted to explain how music expresses what he felt for her though he could not. She kept walking and he kept following. She motioned for him leave, annoyed that he was still buzzing around her. He was then hit with a song that could possibly help him out. It was called, "If I Could Tell Her," from the musical, "Dear Evan Hansen."

Still, he was ignored. He had seen her before, but he could not figure out where. That's it! He walked with one of his friends to the gas station and had seen her wearing ear muffs along with a trench coat. She rushed and rushed and did not have enough cash with her to pay for what she wanted, so he payed for her.

She was not convinced, even after he told her that it was him who had payed for her.

It was no use, he has disappeared in her eyes. He was gone, and could not move as he watched her leave. His hands faded, and soon every part of him did the same. The world was blind to him. It turned it's back on him. He could've changed the world, but he was shunned. How can you change the world if you have disappeared?
