Be Concerned

Of course I'm lying,
You probably should be concerned,
But I won't force you to.
I'm no Barbie doll,
I'm not perfect,
I don't smile all of the time,
I don't have a face made of plastic.
Can you not see through me?
Oh well, I'll live on the same.

I'm not recommending you stay,
Just have a small concern for me.
I'm no toy,
And you can't make me one,
So don't play with my heart,
Don't throw me out,
I'm no game, I can assure you of that.
Am I wrong?
I do not think so.

I am no mere child,
I understand the feeling of love,
I know what depression is,
How the blade of a razor feels,
How blood from a scraped knee is nothing
Compared to most injuries
No, I am not mindless.

Children experience
Excitement,
Happiness,
And beautiful imaginations.

We cannot shield them from the world forever,
Which is why I am no mere child.
Maybe you don't think so,
But I am not.

I'm not a Barbie,
I'm no toy,
I am not a game,
And I am no mere child.

Think what you may,
But be concerned
For I have the power of words,
Of a blade,
Of depression.

Be concerned.
