I nibbled at the edge of my pizza. I was nestled comfortably against Chandler. I could see Hana glaring at me from another nearby table. She was sitting with some brunette. They were both whispering, and glancing toward our table.

I heard someone clear their throat and turned around to see Chloe standing at the end of our table. As usual Alexis was behind her.

"We heard about what Hana did," she gave me a sympathetic smile.

"It was so not cool of her," she gave me a small smile.

"Yeah, well we're fine now," Chandler nodded and gave them a tight smile. They stood there, unsure of what to do but they finally left.

The bell rang and I picked up my plate, which had my uneaten pizza on it. By this point people at our school had gotten used to having two actors at the school. The sound system for the school crackled before the principal cleared her throat.

The speakers make a loud squeal and all the students cringed. She apologized and cleared her throat again.

"Ashley Quinn please report to my office, that's all thank you," the speaker stopped subtly, emitting another loud squeal and then a click.

"We'll meet you in class," Chandler said reassuringly. Everyone was gawking at me, and I could see Hana watching me with a satisfied smile.

I didn't give anyone the satisfaction, and tried to seem as unmoved by the announcement, when in reality I was scared.

I walked to the office, I took a deep breath before cracking the door open, and stepping inside quietly. I was going to sit down on one of the chairs, but the principal rushed out of her office.

"Someone called for you, you can take it in my office," she lead me to her office. She handed me the phone and walked out, leaving me alone with the caller.

"Hello?" I said, my voice cracked a little.

"Is this Ashley?" There as a sniffle on the other line. The woman didn't even wait for my answer, but she just continued.

"It's Mrs. Renolds," she said. She waited for me to reply, but I had no idea who she was, neither did I know anyone with the last name Renolds.

"I'm sorry, I don't think I know you," I muttered.

"No, I'm Matthew's mother," she sniffled.

"Matthew?" I stuttered lowering my voice.

"Yes, he said you two met in a bar," she sounded utterly upset.

"Yes, I know Matthew," I said cautiously.

"He died," I could hear her burst out into tears.

"Wait what?" My voice was high pitched.

"He got into a car crash and was killed, we just thought all his friends should know," she sobbed some more.

"I'm sorry Mrs. Renolds, I wasn't friends with Matthew," I stuttered nervously.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know," she gasped.

"No, I'm sorry about your son," I stopped myself from saying Matthew.

"I'm sorry to have bothered you," she said quietly. I was about to object, but I heard a click indicating she had hung up.

I reluctantly set the phone down and walked out of the office. I gave a quick nod to the principal and waved goodbye.

She handed me a small slip which excused me for being late to class, and I started heading to my class. I opened the door slowly, and every head in the room turned to me. I handed the slip to the teacher and I sat down in my usual seat next to Chandler. He gave me a questioning look, but I just ignored him and focused on the slanted scribbles on the board.
