I looked in the mirror at my dress. The school day had passed by quickly, except for the constant glares from Hana and her friends, not to mention Chloe and her friends trying to become my fake friend once they learned I was going to a red carpet event.
(A/N: in case you've forgotten Chloe is Ashley's former best friend she's super popular and is being nice to Ashley now that she's famous)
The dress hugged my curves. It was a mint strapless dress. It reached my mid thigh, and a see-through flowing fabric went to my heels.
I spun around in it in front of the mirror, watching the fabric float and then gently fall back to my heels.
I heard my phone ring and I picked it up.
"Hello?" I asked still glancing at myself in the mirror.
"Ashley, it's me Wes!" I heard an excited voice on the line.
"Wes, I've missed you so much, I'm coming to Georgia next week!" I exclaimed.
"I've heard! I've heard a lot of things actually, tell me everything that's happened," his voice sounded excited, and different.
I told him about Quinn and Hana and the big breakups and about Chandler and I. I told him about my busy schedule and he listened patiently.
"Damn girl, you've been busy," he stated.
"How've you been?" I asked.
"Pretty good, I've become friends with this other dude who likes skateboarding, and it's pretty much just us. It's great to finally be without my dad. My mom worked hard enough, she got us a nice home," he sounded really happy.
"That's amazing Wes! When I'm in Georgia I'll be sure to visit you," I smiled. We talked for a while about everything going on, until eventually I had to get ready for the red carpet event.
Norman had invited over Naomi and Yana, who I learned were now my official stylists. They blasted music and gossiped as they did my makeup and hair.
It was then, with them, that I realized I missed having friends that were girls. Someone you could gossip with, talk about boys, do each other's hair and makeup, and just be there for each other.
Once Yana and Naomi were done, they hugged me goodbye and left. I pulled on my heels, and for a finishing touch, slipped on a single golden bracelet, with a single golden dove charm on it.
I had bought it for myself when I was young. I had saved up for years, and finally when I was ten, I biked to a jewelry shop and bought the bracelet. It always reminded me of my mom, how she flew free. She was like a dove, retreating a fire, my dad and I being the fire.
I walked downstairs, and saw Mingus lounging on the couch, his collared shirt was unbuttoned, and his suit jacket was thrown on lazily, his tie was untied around his neck.
Norman was adjusting his tie in the mirror. He turned around and caught sight of Mingus and groaned.
"Ming, you were supposed to be ready, we've got to go soon," he grumbled as he started buttoning up Mingus's shirt, and fixing his clothes.
They both turned to me as I walked down the stairs.
"Look at my beautiful little girl!" Norman exclaimed hugging me. I had to admit, Yana and Naomi did an amazing job.
Someone knocked at the door and Norman and Mingus exchanged a glance.
"Hey Ashley can you get the door?" Norman shuffled through his pocket looking for his car keys.
I opened the door and immediately broke into a grin. Chandler was standing there with a bouquet of pastel colored flowers. He looked super hot in his suit and dress pants.
