I looked around at everyone. I could see Wes's face on Normans iPad. He had made sure he attended my adoption at least by skype. Norman was standing next to me with his arm around Mingus.
Chandler held my hand, I glanced at him and he grinned and squeezed my hand. Almost all the cast was seated with their eyes on me. I wasn't nervous though, everyone here was family. A man in a suit put down a document in front of me.
Two thin fine lines, two signatures, and I would be a Reedus. They gave the document to Norman, he kissed my forehead before swiftly signing the guardian signature area.
They handed me the pen, I looked at the document, everyone was watching me. It was in front of me, nothing could go wrong.
The doors slammed open, and everyone turned in confusion. Even Wes on the iPad looked confused.
I turned to see a woman walking swiftly towards me. Her straight auburn hair, her ocean blue eyes, those perfectly done red lips. Nobody else would recognize her, but I did.
"Ashley?" She started tearing up, she was shaking slightly, and glancing at the pen in my hand.
"Mom?" I croaked. She walked forward cautiously.
"I'm here now, we can go live together, I found you," she grinned. I felt a churning in my stomach. Everyone was now staring at my mom. They all had mixed emotions, but so did I.
"It's been over five years," I tried to gulp back tears.
"Yes I know but I'm here darling," she grinned, her face fell when she saw my current audience. Her eyes glanced over everyone one by one. Her eyes swiftly glanced at my hand holding Chandler's.
"Ashley?" She repeated. She looked at me desperately.
"Mom, I can't," I said quietly. I saw a single tear roll down her cheek. She brushed it away quickly.
"Why not, I have a job, a nice house, I even have a fiancé," she kept blabbing.
"What?" I said, my voice was louder.
"I'm getting married," she grinned.
"You're too late," I muttered again. I felt hurt for being cut out of my mothers life. She never contacted me at all through all these years, and now she expects me to be happy for her marriage.
"No, you can live with us, come on Ashley," she begged.
"I'm sorry, Ashley's father has already signed away both of your parental rights," Norman stood in front of me protectively.
"Ashley, please come with me, you'll love our new life, you can leave all these people behind," she begged again. Her comment angered me and I clenched my jaw.
I picked up the pen and swiftly signed my name on the sheet, she watched in disappointment, as everyone cheered. She tried to come after Norman, but some man held her back, I assumed he was her new fiancé.
I tried my best to ignore my mother, who was now being dragged out by her fiancé. As soon as she was gone, I pushed her out of my mind for the moment. I hugged everyone and we all celebrated.
@ashleyreedus: blessed to be adopted into the best family ever <3
Norman drove us all to a fancy restaurant for a celebration lunch. It was hard to forget my mother, I didn't know whether to be angry at her, or to be relieved.
"You okay?" Chandler mumbled softly. I nodded and snuggled closer to him. After our fancy dinner, the rest of the cast went home, while Chandler and I went in the den to snuggle on the couch while watching a movie.
